HomeMy WebLinkAboutrda min 1979/06/12 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Tuesday - 10:00 p.m. June 12, 1979 An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Chula Vista was held on the above date beginning at 10:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Public Services Building, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, California with the following: MEMBERS PRESENT Chai rman Hyde; ~1embers Gi1low, Egdahl, Cox Members Absent Member Sco tt STAFF PRESENT Executive Director Cole, Community Development Director Desrochers ITEM NO. 1 - REPORT: EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES - LCP At the Redevelopment Agency meeting on June 7, staff was directed to obtain the cost for expert witness services relative to Chula Vista's Local Coastal Program. Executive Director Cole commented that the authorization of funds requested would help the City in their presentation to the State Coastal Commission. Community Development Director Desrochers reported that staff contacted WESTEC Services, Inc. and they have three marine biologists who are familiar with the pro- ject and will make the presentation at an estimated cost of $3,222. He would also like to have the Gruens testify on the City's behalf. The total cost of both pre- sentations would be $5,000. MOTION TO APPROVE EXPENDITURE It was moved by Member Cox, seconded by Member Gillow and unanimously carried by those present that the report be accepted and the expenditure of $5,000 be authorized. REPORT: WASHINGTON TRIP - UDAG Executive Director Cole noted the need for staff to make a trip to Washington con- cerning UDAG, was discussed last Thursday and the situation may have substantially changed. Mr. Desrochers said he talked to officials in Washington and San Francisco this date along with bank officials. The City of Chula Vista has done eve~ything possible needed for the grant. HUD is willing to bend the regulations somewhat if the City can get some commitment from the financial institutions. He added that it may be in the City's best interest for the Agency Special Counsel, Cliff Reed, along with the developer's Counsel, Mike Cowett, to go to Washington to meet with HUD in this re- gard but that situation changes daily.
