A total of $5,705.00 is required for City participation in this
event. Funds would need to be appropriated from the
unappropri ated bal ance of the Bayfront/Town Centre I Bond Fund to
account 990-9907-5222, Promotions.
Member Mal colm noted that hi s only request was to try to get the
America's Cup down here for Nautical Heritage Day on April 11,
1987. He has a friend who owns a yacht (Stars & Stripes) and
indicated that if the City could get this boat down here along
with the America's Cup, it would be very unique for the April 11
event. There is a cost; however, in moving the boat down here--at
least another $4,000 should be added to the appropriation.
MSUC (Malcolm/Moore) to increase the appropriation amount by an
additional $4,000 contingent upon the America's Cup and the boat
coming down here on April 11.
Public Information Coordinator Mark Cox remarked that the Cup and
the boat would certainly increase public awareness in coming to
the Bayfront on that day.
Chairman Cox declared that the dedication
Beach will also take place on this day.

Mr. Ric Williams, representing the Chamber of Commerce, said that
the total cost of moving the boat would be about $4,000 to $5,000
if it is not on a trailer. However, if it is already on a
trailer, the cost will be less.

MEMBERS' COMMENTS
a.
Member Malcolm asked for a report on the signalization at
Third and "F" Street, stating that timewise, the signals are
quite off. The left turn lanes get backed up for quite a long
time because they have to wait for two cycles of lights to go
through. He would like a report on this at the next
Redevelopment Agency meeting.
Member Nader said he also received complaints that motorists,
after waiting for these lights, get impatient and start
speeding down "F" Street.
