HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997/06/09 Board of Appeals & Advisors Minutes ITEM 112A MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF APPEALS AND ADVISORS CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA June 9, 1997 Conference Room No. 2 5:15 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Triplette, Board Members Fabrick, O'Neill and Puzon MEMBERS ABSENT: Vice-Chair Gingerich, Board Members Compton and Harter CITY STAFF PRESENT: Director of Building & Housing Larsen, Assistant Director of Building & Housing Remp and Administrative Secretary Uybungco CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chairman Triplette called the meeting to order at 5: 17 p.m. ROLL CALL: Members present constituted a quorum. 1. DECLARATION OF EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED ABSENTEEISM: A) MSC (4-0) to approve the absences of Board Members Compton, Gingerich and Harter. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A) MSC (4-0) to approve the minutes of May 12, 1997. B) MSC (3-0) (O'Neill abstained) to approve the minutes of February 10, 1997. 3. NEW BUSINESS: A. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair for FY 1997-98 Chairman Triplette deferred item to Director of Building & Housing Larsen. Director Larsen advised the Board of the option to elect a new Chairperson and a new Vice-Chairperson, or to continue with the services of the current Chair and Vice-Chair. Board of Appeals & Advisors -3- June 9, 1997 Board Member O'Neill stated that he would support the Program as long as the City Manager does not draw down the Department's normal funding or pull employees funded by the Program to perform other duties. Board Member O'Neill further stated that if the Program should diverge from its intended delivery of service to non-owner occupied structures, that he will come forward and protest the continuance of the Program, Board Member O'Neill commended the Department of Building and Housing. He stated that he has dealt with many jurisdictions within the San Diego County and Chula Vista's Building Department is knowledgeable, not adversarial at the start. 6. COMMUNICATIONS (PUBLIC REMARKS/WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE): None 7. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Triplette adjourned the meeting at 5:47 p.m. to the next regular meeting scheduled for July 14, 1997. ~~b~ ....
