Director Leiter gave background information on where the City currently is on the issue of graywater systems. Council has directed Planning and Public Works to look at measures to reduce water consumption. The plan is to set up pilot projects to monitor the use of graywater systems and the use of reclaimed water in the municipal system. The intention is to monitor the projects to get answers, pro or con, to whether there are real problems regarding health/safety concems, the concerns of liability, and other concerns. Director Leiter also informed the Board that one of the proposed systems could be sold to homeowners, with the understanding that existing homes would have to be re-plumbed to fiow into the system. This could be costly and may not be feasible.
