Other manufacturers conforming to these standards may be submitted In accordance with the general provisions, and In accordance with Section 01300 of these Specifications. 3.2.2 Products (1.5) OPERABLE WAll PANELS - 1 HOUR RATED PRODUCTS A. PRODUCT shall be Modernfold Acoustl-Seal 900 series Model 931 (500 DR) manufactured by Modernfold and furnished and Installed -*: by an authorized distributor. Product shall have a U.L Certificate for compliance with the 1 hour rating. B. OPERATION shall consist of a series of manually operated, flat panels, tops supported, with operable floor seals. ONE HOUR OPERABLE PARTITIONS 10100-2 C. PANEL CONFIGURATION shall be a series of Individual panels capable of negotiating angular turns or Intersections Including 90 degree turns at l, T, and X Intersections of supporting track. D. Panels shall be all steel construction, nominal 3" (76) thick In manufacturer's standard panel widths (48" max., 1219). All panel framing elements, horizontally and vertically shall be a minimum 16 ga. (1.390) steel. Panel skins shall be a minimum 21 ga. (.838) steel with electrolytic flash coat zinc finish on bottom sides of steel sheet to Inhibit rust. Panel skins shall be lock-formed and welded directly to frames to form a unitized panel for non-racking rigidity and durability. Panel skins which are adhesive laminated to frame, or skins not welded directly to steel frame are not permitted. "Wrap-around" skin/panel construction shall not require vertical trim on panel faces and shall, with astragal seal, provide a minimum "groove" appearance at the vertical panel Joints. Panel cores shall be Insulated as required to meet acoustical performance and provide rigid backing for skins. Backing shall be of non-combustible materials. E. PANEL FINISH shall be factory applied, Class "A" rated material. Finish shall be wallcoverlng as Indicated In the FINISH SCHEDULE on the Drawings. Finish material by others coordinated by manufacturer. F. WEIGHT of panels shall be 8-12 Ibs./sq. feet (39-59 kg/m ) (average hanging) based on panel size and option selected. G. SEALS shall be as follows: a) Vertical sound seal between panels, (astragal), shall be required In each panel edge and be of a reversible tongue and groove configuration permitting universal panel operation. Astragals shall be steel for maximum durability, and fire resistance. Rigid plastic astragals are not acceptable. Vertical astragals which lap back over, or are flush with panel face shall be powder painted to match facing material, eliminating a defined stripe at each vertical panel Joint. b) Horizontal top seals shall be continuous-contact extruded vinyl bulb shape to prevent acoustical distortion, with pairs of non--contactlng vinyl fingers. Color - Primer and Paint by contractor. ONE HOUR OPERABLE WALL PARTITIONS 10100-3 c) Operable floor seals: Floor seals shall provide operable travel of 2.5" (64) to accomodate + .5" (13) - 1.5" (38) of deflection and/or floor variation. Downward seal pressure shall assure an acoustical seal and resist panel movement. Seal shall be operable from either panel edge to permit multiple panel positioning and reversible operation, yet provide security when panels are In place. Operation requiring separate tools or levers, or from one panel edge only, or the panel face, shall not be permitted. Exposed operable floor seal channel shall be dark bronze finish. H. SUSPENSION SYSTEM: a) Track shall be a minimum 8ga. (44) roll formed steel, not extruded aluminum. Static loading of track with brackets at 48" (122) centers, shall show no failure of track or brackets at 5,000 Ibs. point loading at mid-span. Track shall be supported by adjustable steel hanger brackets connected to structural support by pairs of .5" (13) diameter threaded rods. b) Track soffit must be all steel for added fire protection and be Integral, non-removable, factory primed Off White. Plywood, particle board or aluminum soffits are not permitted. Track soffit must accommodate terminations of plenum sound barrier on both sides of track for maximum sound control. c) Carriers, two per panel, shall be all steel with precision ground concentric bearings, permitting panels to traverse "L", "T" or "X" Intersections without mechanical switching devices. d) Carriers shall attach to panels with a shock absorptive mounting to prevent undue stress to structural, ceiling or lighting systems due to abusive handling of panels. Non- steel tired trolleys or trolleys with un-ground bearings will not be used. I. ACOUSTICAL PERFORMANCE of the operable wall panel construction shall have been tested In an Independent acoustical laboratory on a fully operational 14'-0" (4267) x 9'-0" (2743) unit In accordance with ASTM E90-75 test procedure, and shall have attained an acoustical rating of no less than 50. ONE HOUR OPERABLE WALL PARTITIONS 10100-4 , J. CHALKBOARDS shall be 48" (1219) high located as Indicated on architectural drawings. No exposed fasteners shall be permitted. K. PASS DOOR shall be of the same construction and thickness as the panels. It shall be equipped with friction latch and flush pulls for panic operation. Pass door trim shall be factory prime painted to receive field applied paint. No threshold shall be required and door shall be equipped with fixed extruded vinyl floor seals. Door must be 20-mlnute rated for fire protection with self closing hidden hinges as per finish hardware specification. INSTALLATION AND EXECUTION: A. Preparation of opening shall be by Contractor. Any deviation or site conditions contrary to approved shop drawings shall be called to the attention of the Architect. B. Delivery to the Job site shall be coordinated by Contractor. Proper storage of doors before Installation and continued protection during and after Installation shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. C.
