Building and Housing September 11, 1990 The 3-story covered parking structure is currently designed to accommodate 140 parking spaces o V1 Based on the requirements specified in Sections 7102(a) and (b) of the California State z z «:0 Building Code, 1988 Edition, a minimum of four (4) parking spaces must be designated for ~ V11- handicapped/disabled use within the parking structure. Section 7102 (g) requires that a zu ow minimum vertical clearance of 8 feet 2 inches be provided to access these parking spaces. ~V1 I- The current design calls for a maximum vertical clearance of 7 feet and a ramp slope that ~w 00 would exceed the maximum allowable for handicapped access. The Code does provide for an 2:0 ou exception to these specific requirements when equivalent facilitation is provided. The u w applicant is requesting that his proposal to place four (4) handicapped/disabled parking "-..J oca spaces directly in front of the proposed office building be considered as equivalent «: I-U facilitation to locating the spaces within the parking structure.
