CHULA VISTA SEEKS MEMBERS FOR NEW DISABLED ACCESS BOARD
Chula Vista is looking for five volunteers to serve on the city's newly established Access
Appeals Board that will hear appeals relating to the disabled access requirements
contained in the California State Building Code for private developments,
The five member board must include two physically disabled persons, two experienced
in construction and one member representing the general public, Appeal issues may
include requirements for accessible restrooms, elevators, parking ramps, sidewalks and
curb cuts, Decisions made by the Access Appeals Board are final and cannot be
appealed to the City Council.

comply with state handicapped laws," said Ken Larsen, Director of Building Housing,
Applicants must be Chula Vista residents and registered voters, Interested persons are
encouraged to obtain an application in the City Clerk's office, 276 Fourth Ave" or call
691-5041, Board members will be recommended by Mayor Shirley Horton and ratified
by the City Council. .

The board will schedule meetings on an as-needed basis, with July as a projected
initiation date, Depending on the number and frequency of disabled access complaints,
it is estimated that monthly meetings will be held,
