ITEM NO.1 - REPORT: EXTENSION OF TENANCY FOR SOUTH BAY AUTO PARTS
Community Development Director Desrochers advised the members that Special Counsel
Reed had not had an opportunity to meet with Mr. Jenkins' attorney, Mr. Gobel,
because Mr. Gobel had been out of town. Mr. Desrochers stated that he would attempt
to bring something to the Agency within the next week or by the next Agency meeting
(January 21).
SLIDE SHOW
Mr. Desrochers commented on recent consultati ons with audi o-vi sua 1 professi ona ls
including Nuffer/Smith regarding the development of an improved slide presentation.
The estimated cost for a professional show would be $5,000 and would include photog-
raphy, art direction and production coordination to produce a "polished" presentation.
Discussion followed concerning the need for a professional presentation in time for
the meeting Friday with Chairman Cox, Member Scott and three of the 12 Coastal Com-
missioners. Chairman Cox commented that since that meeting will be a preliminary
session that the professional approach would be more effective at a later date for
presentation to the full Commission. He emphasized the importance of having a show
developed as professionally as possible, either in-house or with limited assistance,
to include script preparation. Member McCandliss questioned whether that type of
presentation could be adapted for promotional/commercial use; Mr. Desrochers responded
that that flexible program could be developed--a slide show would be produced that
could be adaptable for community groups, developers and groups representing other
interests by adding/deleting slides from additional cannisters. That type of pro-
duction would cost upwards of $10,000.
MOTION TO PREPARE PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION
MSUC (Cox/Campbell) to direct staff to work in-house to come up with as professional
a presentation as possible within the short time period available with the under-
standing that at the point of making a presentation to the full Coastal Commission,
the Agency would expect to employ whatever services are necessary to develop a
professional presentation.
