RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ESTABLISHING 1-HOUR TIME-LIMITED
PARKING ALONG THE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF METRO
AVENUE FROM STYLUS STREET TO OPTIMA STREET AND
AMENDING SCHEDULE VI OF THE REGISTER
MAINTAINED BY THE CITY ENGINEER
WHEREAS, the east and west sides of Metro Avenue from Stylus Street to Optima Street
(the “Subject Parking Area”) currently provides 91 public diagonal parking spaces; and
WHEREAS, in response to a request from a business located on Metro Avenue and receipt
of a verified petition signed by at least 75 percent of businesses fronting the Subject Parking Area,
staff have evaluated the current parking conditions at the Subject Parking Area and have concluded
that a change to the current parking regulations is recommended; and
WHEREAS, as a result of its evaluation, staff recommends that current parking regulations
at the Subject Parking Area be revised to establish 1-hour time-limited parking along the Subject
Parking Area; and
WHEREAS, on March 12, 2026, the City of Chula Vista Traffic Safety Commission
concurred with staff’s recommendation and approved the 1-hour time-limited parking along the
Subject Parking Area from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM with flexibility to adjust the start and end times
for the restriction to be in effect; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Millenia Parking Management Plan, approved on
April 24, 2017, the Millenia Parking District Council, which has authority with respect to parking
regulations in the Millenia Parking District, concurred with staff’s recommendation and approved
the 1-hour time-limited parking along the Subject Parking Area at their June 16, 2026, meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista,
that it establish 1-hour time-limited parking along the east and west sides of Metro Avenue from
Stylus Street to Optima Street, to delegate authority to the City Engineer to adjust the start and end
times for the restriction to be in effect based on subsequent engineering studies, and to amend
Schedule VI of the Register maintained by the City Engineer.
