RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING FUNDS FROM PREVENT
DROWNING FOUNDATION OF SAN DIEGO THROUGH JUNE
30, 2027, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING AND EXECUTE GRANT
DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego awards grants (the “SD Swims
grant”) to bring water safety resources and the life-saving skill of swimming to communities
throughout San Diego County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista (“City”) Parks and Recreation Department has
applied for the SD Swims grant; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will use the SD Swims grant
funds to provide swimming lessons and water safety education to students in Chula Vista.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista,
that it authorizes the City Manager to accept grant funds from the Prevent Drowning Foundation
of San Diego through June 30, 2027.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is authorized to enter into and
execute an agreement with Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego, any amendments,
extensions, or renewals of the agreement, and any and all documents necessary and appropriate
to implement this resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is authorized to take all necessary
actions to administer, monitor, manage, and ensure compliance with the Program, including
certifications made in the Application, and further to enter into and execute contracts with third
parties to implement the Program or use of the funds, as appropriate.
