CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Veterans Advisory Commission of the City of Chula Vista was called to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Secretary Aguilar called the roll. 3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS - John Acosta - Requests to get a flagpole outside of library branches. - He has been requesting this to City Council with no success. - Requests to rase the flag for Flag Day (June 14). 5. PRESENTATIONS 5.1 Presentation by Healing Waves Aquatics - Presentation cancelled. 2 6. ACTION ITEMS 6.1 Approval of Excused Absence of Commissioner Jimenez for the Regular Meeting of June 17, 2025 Moved by Lynne Pine Seconded by Tanya Williams Approval of Excused Absence form. Result: Carried Unanimously 6.2 Approval of Excused Absence of Commissioner Pine for the Regular Meeting of July 16, 2025 Moved by Francia Castro Seconded by Commissioner Jimenez Approval of Excused Absence form. Result: Carried Unanimously 6.3 Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes of June 18, 2025 Moved by Tanya Williams Seconded by Francia Castro Commission to approve the meeting minutes. Result: Carried Unanimously 6.4 Update on Outreach Subcommittee - Commissioner Pine mentioned that she is working with Commissioner Stewart to get a table for the Veterans Home Christmas event. - Commissioner Castro will discuss graphics with her. 6.5 Update on Veteran of the Year Subcommittee - Commissioner Pine brought the idea of celebrating the recipient at the Memorial Bowl ceremony. - Commissioner Williams proposed having the Commission walk the Starlight Parade. 3 - Commissioner Jimenez offered to have the same unit of color guard for the City Council meeting where they will be presenting the recipient. 6.6 Update on Military Reintegration Program Subcommittee - Chair Nava reached out to Mr. Stark from the Veterans Coalition to inquire about the Military Reintegration Program and how the commission can help with it. OTHER BUSINESS 7. STAFF COMMENTS - Secretary Aguilar notified the commissioners of the steps to get the proclamation for the recipient of the Veteran of the Year for the November 4 Council meeting. 8. CHAIR'S COMMENTS - No comments. 9. COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS - Commissioner Williams reminded Commissioner Pine to get the contact for the ROTC. - Commissioner Pine expressed her interest in the San Diego Veterans Parade. 10.
