RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA APPROVING FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE
AGREEMENT WITH ERICKSON-HALL CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY TO INCORPORATE THE GURANTEEED
MAXIMUM PRICE (GMP) FOR THE SERVICES REQUIRED
TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT FIRE STATION NO.6, (CIP
PS126) LOCATED AT EAST H STREET AND MT. MIGUEL
ROAD IN THE ROLUNG HILLS RANCH COMMUNITY OF
CHULA VISTA AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL
FUNDS THEREFOR
WHEREAS, on October 7, 2003, City Council approved an agreement with
Erickson-Hall Construction Company for services required to design and construct a 4,200
square-foot 2-bay Fire Station No.6 including the facilities and site-work required to provide fire
service to the eastern territories of the City; and
WHEREAS, the project is nearing the end of the design phase and ready to start the
construction phase in March 2004; and
WHEREAS, the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) is to be established at 90%
construction documents, which would include, but not limited to, the cost for all labor,
equipment, material to design and build a fully functional 4,200 square-foot 2-bay Fire Station
No.6 in accordance with all applicable building codes; and
WHEREAS, a not to exceed amount of $1,915,710 was established, based upon rough
schematic drawings, in the design build agreement; and
WHEREAS, as the design progressed and some of the complexities of this project
became know, the actual GMP as determined at 90% construction drawing stage exceeded the
not to exceed amount in the original agreement; and
WHEREAS, it was determined during the design phase that accommodations for future
Medical Alert personnel and equipment were needed; and
WHEREAS, as a result, the size of the apparatus bay was increased and two bunkrooms
were added; and
WHEREAS, Erickson-Hall Construction Company has requested the GMP be set at
$2,375,000. The GMP includes, but is not limited to, design services, general conditions,
insurance, bonds, construction management, the cost for all labor, equipment, and material to
design and build a fully functional 4,200 square-foot 2-bay fire station in accordance to
applicable building codes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby approve the first amendment of the design build agreement incorporating the
GMP at $2,375,000 for design and construction of a 4,200 square-foot 2-bay Fire Station No.6
and appropriate additional funds of $1,130,300 from the available balance of the Public Facilities
Development Impact Fee Fund (PFDIF), a copy of which shall be kept on file in the office of the

City Clerk and hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute said amendment on behalf of the City of
Chula Vista.
