For reference, Filipinos make up 20% of the Chula Vista community, a significant portion. While we are aware of discussions of a specific Filipino Veterans’ park, we wholeheartedly feel that a park dedicated to our community should also be inclusive of the diverse accomplishments and contributions of the Filipino community, including our veterans and others, to our city. We feel that a park dedicated to our community should be able to host large events, such as an annual Filipino festival that has ample parking, restrooms, and access to public transportation, that could attract visitors from across the region. This would be more suitable than a smaller neighborhood park that may have limited parking and not be able to accommodate such events. We are committed to celebrating the rich history, cultural heritage, and civic engagement of Filipino and Filipino American residents in Chula Vista. We believe that dedicating a park in recognition of our enduring contributions will provide a meaningful and lasting acknowledgment, foster community pride, and create an inclusive space for reflection and connection. We are eager to collaborate with the City Manager ’s office and the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that this initiative reflects the values and interests of both the Filipino/Filipino American community and the broader Chula Vista community. Page 9 of 36 City of Chula Vista Parks and Recreation Commission December 11, 2025 Agenda We look forward to meeting with you on this meaningful project and welcome the opportunity to discuss it further at your convenience. PLEASE REPORT SUSPICIOUS EMAILS BY USING THE PHISH ALERT REPORT BUTTON or to reportphishing@chulavistaca.gov I would like the city of Parks and Recreation to leave the Rohr Park Equestrian in place a historic community gathering place of over 40 years. Kids deserve equity in sports mostly females are involved at plus 75% nationwide with horses. Chula Vista has 85 multisport fields and 1 equestrian arena. The arena has been used successfully as large animal evacuation site in 2003 and 2007 fires. Sunnyside Bonita Fire department has not been contacted by the City of Chula Vista about an alternative evacuation site. Keeping the arena affords the city of Chula Vista to be a good neighbor to the unincorporated community of Bonita and preserving the arena for local horse owners, backyard and traditional stable riders as well as riders visiting from Lakeside, Ramona, and other places. The arena is already built, in the grounds, The city only removes trash in cans placed by the city around arena. Local community members take care of the facility. It would cost taxpays money to remove and install new fields. Why are you wasting tax dollars in the community which has opposition? Do not click any links and do not open attachments unless you can confirm the sender. PLEASE REPORT SUSPICIOUS EMAILS BY USING THE PHISH ALERT REPORT BUTTON or to reportphishing@chulavistaca.gov I am writing in support of keeping the equestrian ring and surrounding area in the plan for Rohr Park. It is important for the community. It is important for equestrian activities. If it is removed, there are no other locations central to the community to move it to. It was removed from the plans without proper notice tobthe users and community. A sneaky way of pushing through someone else's vision. I have personally attended horse shows and other activities which attract park visitors attention and interest. These lands are the heart of Bonita. I have ridden these trails and watched the areas which used to be safe and accessible disappear in the sprawl of urban development. Bonita Valley Horsemen have been a voice since the 70's working with the planning commission to not let their enjoyment of the community they bought and maintained homes in be taken away. Keeping the equestrian ring preserving the trails are the way to coexist and promote activities current to the area. The need for a gathering place in the South Bay is imperative to maintain. This area is used by many to enjoy the natural setting Bonita and Chula Vista can provide. I have observed many who enjoy this area with their dogs, preferring to park off road and not in the general parking lot area. Keep the trees, keep the natural park terrain and let the park be used by diversified interests. Please keep the ring in place. There are many other options for soccer fields. former horse owner, current horseback rider, user of Rohr park trails and an enjoyed of the equestrian ring.
