Recommended Redistricting Plan and Action to Approve as the

Back to the Redistricting Commission for Final Action
Pamela Buchan I have comments to submit to the public hearing this evening
on Item 7.1 Redistricting map. I found out this weekend the
formal recommendation includes removing what is being
called the "Oleander Corridor" from District 3 to District 4. I
live within the boundary of the Oleander Corridor and
disagree with the Redistricting Commission's findings
regarding their assertion that relocating the Oleander area to
District 3 will reunite the neighborhoods separated in the past
by construction of I-805. The freeway right of way and freeway
construction occurred about 50 years ago. The Oleander
Corridor has existed as part of the neighborhoods and
community on the east side of I-805 since almost all of those
homes were constructed.
As a property owner and a 45 yr. resident of the "Oleander
Corridor" I am appealing to Mayor and Council members not
to relocate the Oleander Corridor to District 4 which will
create an "Oleander corridor orphan" displaced from District
3.
Also, how is it that the City of Chula Vista did not provide
official notice by mail to the affected property owners and
residents that their local voting district was under
consideraƟon to be changed?
