MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, CHULA VISTA,
CALIFORNIA, HELD AUGUST 19,1924.
~e Board met pursuant to adjournement, in the Council Chamber of the City
Hall, on the above date. Meeting called to order at 7130 p.m. Present: Trus-
tees Shaw, Bent, Wentworth, Lyons. Trustee Peters absent.
President Peters being absent. the clerk opened the meeting. and called
for nominations for President, pro tern. for this meeting. It was moved, sec-
onded and carried that Trustee Shew take the chair, which he did.

TRD1MING TREES BY GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY 1 Mr. D. K. Adams, of the
San Diego Gas and Electric Company, appeared before the Board and asked that
blanket authority be given his company to trîm street trees, whenever found
necessary in the operation of their lines. The matter of the Company having
trimmed trees without permission, as reported at the meeting of August 5, 1924,

mission to trim the trees in question. Ordinance No. 24, on tree trbming by
utilities companies, was read, and after discussion, with Mr. Adams stating
his side of the case, it ,vas decided that whenever it was found neoessary
to have a tree trimmed to accommodate the wires of the company, the official
of the company having the work in charge, should apply to the City Tree War-
den, M. C. Elliott, who is authorized to supervise such trimming is he thinks
necessary. Mr. Elliott.ls services, in each case, to be paid for by the Gas
Company. Motion covering this action by Me. Wentworth, seconded Mr. Lyons,
carried.
EXHIBIT AT COUNTY FAIR: Mr. G. J. Paulson stated that the 'arm Bureau
and the local Chamber of Commerce are arranging to have a suitable exhibit
at the County Fair, to be held in San Diego, next month. The Chamber of Com-
merce is contributing all of its available funds, and the merchants have been
solicited, and have contributed to the cause. He said that an experienced man
has been engaged to handle the exhibit, and that the project will require
$125.00 more to properly finance it; the city was requested to contribute
that amount. It was decided to contribute the above sum, $125.00, upon motion
by Mr. Lyons, seconde4 by Mr. Wentworth, which carried.
POTTER RADIATOR PLANT: Mr. G. J. Paulson introduoed the subject of
the location of the Potter Bsdiator Plant in this city. He said that he had
ascertained that the plant held two options on Chamber of Commerce Land. one
in National City and one in Chula Vista; he had interviewed the constructing
engineer of the company, azid. found that the National City land will require
the expenditure of considerable money to provide wharf ~acilities, while the
Chula Vista site has a wharf belonging to the Cotton Seed Plant, but that it
will require a railroad spur of about 200 yards. It appears that Mr. Bencini,
of the Cotton Seed Plant, and Mr. Nat Bogan, of San Diego, are both working
to have the plant located here, and upon Mr. Paulson's suggestion, the Board
appointed Mr. Warner Edmonds as a committee of one, to confer with the the
two gentlemen named above. and endeavor to gettqe location of the plant in
this city. If the plant is located here, it is understood that E Street
will have to be opened and put in shape, to the plant, which is proposed to
be ~pcated just south of the Cotton Seed Plant. In addition, the clerk was
directed to write to Mr. Jerry Sullivan, Jr., in San Diego, who is part owner
of the local lumber yard, and ask h1m to assist in this work, if agreeable to
him.

REDEMPTION OF LAND OFFERED FOR SALE FOR DELINQUENT TAXES: The city
attorney presented a deed for Lot 60, nosebank Addition, deeding this lot
from the city to The Southern Trust and Commerce Bank, of San Diego. This
lot had been advertised for sale for delinquent taxes, but the owner having
redeemed it before the actual sale, upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by
Mr. Wentworth, the President of the Board is authorized to execute the deed.
AUTOMOBILE FOR NURSE. PURCHASE OF NEW ONEI It having been found necessary
to purchase a new automobile for the use of the Community and School Nurse, the
clerk was instructed to write the Chula Vista Union Grammar School Trustees.
advising that body accordingly, and to the effect that the school will be ex-
pected to P6¥. one-half of the cost, including maintenance. This payment to be
made in ~ way most convenient, but that at least $400.00 to be paid to the
city by the school, within a period of four years, as cost of depreciation,
rental or otherwise, not including maintenance.
ADJOURNMENT: Upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Lyons, the
