the water front of San Diego Bç, with the statement that the Chamber of Co-erce
intends to present a plan for dredging the water frcnts of the mnnicipalitiøs on
the bç, to the U. S. Bngineer in charge of this district, at a public meeting to
be held ~ 12, 1925. He wanted the ideas of the municipalities concerned, and
desired to have them in accord on some concerted plan of dredging a channel, and
reclaiming the tide 1anda. There will be a meeting for this latter pullpoae, held
in the Chamber of Commerce, on ~ 6th, to prepare the plan for the U.S.Bngineer,
at the public meeting, above aet forth. The conoensus cf opinion was to ask for
a channel, 1000 feet wide and 35 feet in depth, and have it extend as far south
as the salt works, if possible. Mr. Peacock, engineer of the San Diego Oil Producta
Plant, was present and gave some valuable information on the subject, he having
had a good many years sperienoe in harbor reclamation work. Mr. Peacock said he
would be glad tc render any further assistance in forwarding the movement. The
question of the 8IIIonnt of freight that would be handled thrcugh a pier in thiø
ci ty was discuned, and it -s Ílhown that if the Santa Fe Bailroad will stend
its lines to the pier proposed, it would greatly facilitate the movement. It was
also shown that if shipping tacili ties by water were available, it would be
a tr8lllendous help in inducing industries to locate here.
Upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Wentworth, the city engineer
