HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1925/07/28 MINUTES OF d ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, HELD JULY 28, 1925. The Board met pursuant to adjournment in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with President Peters in the chair. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. Present: Trustees Peters, Wentworth, Bent, Lwons, Sh~. EMPLOYtÅ’NT OF C01WUNITY AND SCHOOL NURSE: A letter from Mrs. W. H. Sallmon, to the effect that she had written to Miss Helen M. Scott to report for duty here on August 15, 1925, as Community and School Nurse, under the terms of the contract now in use, was read. There being no action to take, upon motion by Mr. Bent, seconded by .~. Shaw, the letter was ordered filed. This nurse is being employed to replace .~s. Eddie S. Dunlop, resigned, and Mrs. Sallmon's action in the matter is the result of instructions of the Board, at a meeting held July 22, 1925. ."-' WIDENING STJEET AT FOOT OF HIGHLAND HILL: The clerk reported that Mr. E. A. Hornbeck, County Supervisår of this district, had stated t~t he had instructed his foreman to proceed with the work of making a fill alongside the driveway at the foot of Highland Hill, making a turn-out parking space for the Sutherland stages. This is with the understanding that the city will surface with granite, the fill so made. CHANGING ClUUTIíEL OF WATERWAY A1~ GRADING FIFtH AVENUE AND K STREET: A contract authorizing the change of channel of canyon with the provision that K Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, and 5th BVeeue, between J and K Streets will be graded, within 60 days. Discussed but no action taken, except to referr the paper to the city attorney. PLA1T!IING CO!.~ISSION: The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of July 19, were read, and upon motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by .~. Bent, they were approved. ORDINANCE Ho. 129: This is an ordinance providing for a strictly Class A '3:~idential d.istrict in the terri to~J lying east of 4th Avenue. A petition, signed by 55 property owners in the above mentioned district, protesting against the clause contained in the ordinance prohibiting commercial poultry raising in the above ter- ritory, was read. Messers Campbell, Connor, Eakins, Pray, Boyd, Reuter and Macaulay addressed the Board on the subject. After discussion, a motion was made by .~. Shaw, seco..nded by !Jr. Lyons, tha.t the clau~iting commercial poultry raising be eliTinated from the ordinance. The carried by the following vote, to~it: AYES: Trustees Shaw, Lyons, Bent, Peters. NOES: Trustee Wentworth. ABSE1~: None. Upon motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by .~. Lyons, this ordinance was placed placed on its seconei and final reading, after eliminating the words: "Commercial Pèultry Raising," therefrom. The ordinance was read, and wa.s passed, adopted s.nd approved, as read by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Trustees Shaw, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent, Peters. NOES: None. AB~~T: None. ORDINANCE NO. 130: Upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Shaw, which carried, Ordinance No. 130, was placed on its first reading. This is an oriinance regulating the installation of gas piping in all buildings, and providing for the inspection thereof. STREET CAR POLES AND WIRES ON STREETS: The City Attorney reported that he had notified the San Diego Electric Railway Company to remove the street car poles and wires from the streets of this city, in accordance with instructions of the Board, at its meeting of July 7, 1925, but that he had not heard from that compan,y in reply. ADJOURlThIENT: Upon motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Wentworth, which carried, the Board adjourned sine die. ,~ 6J.~ City Clerk.
