HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1925/08/18 MINUTES OF AN ADJOtJREED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNU, HELD AUGUST 18, 1925. The Board met pursuant to adjournment, in the Council Chamber of the City,Hall. on the above date, with President Peters in the chair. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. Present: Trustees Peters, Shaw, Wentworth, Lyons, Bent. BILL BOARDS: MB.E. P. Sanple, representing the Foster & Kleiser Advertising Company, addressed the Board, protesting against the passage of Ordinance No. 131, which was due to have its final reading at this meeting. Two other ~embers of the firm, also, addressed the Board on the subject, and upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Shaw, it was decided that the second reading of Ordinance No. 131 will be held in abey~ ance for apariod of sixty days; in the meantime, the Advertising Company will have a conference with the City Planning Commission. Motion carried. ( SIDEWALKS ON ALVARADO STREET I Mr. G. R. Holloway asked the board for a ction on a petition presented by him some time ago, calling for the construction of sidewalks and curbs on Alvarado street. Messers C. C. Vandeveer and H. S. Hall protested against the ordering of the work at this time, and after discussion, it was decided to hold up the matter until March 1,1926. The protestants agreed to circulate and present a petition signed by a majority of the property owners effected, agreeing to have the work started by March I, 1926. POLES AND WIRES OF ELECTRIC STREET RAILWAY: The city attorney reported on the matter of removing the poles and trolleys, formerly used by the San Diego Electric Street Hailway Company, from the streets of the city. He exhibited a letter from the last mentioned company, to the effect that these poles and wires belong to the San Diego and Arizona Bailwa;v Company. The city attorney stated that a representative Of the S. D. & A. Ry. Company, had called on him reoently and asked that no removal of the poles and wires be made at this time, for the reason that a resumption Of electric service might be made in the future. Upon motion by Mr. Bent, seconded by Mr. Shaw, the verbal request, above mentioned, was ordered received and filed. Motion carried. TIDE LANDS: The clerk presented a printed ccpy of Chapter 120, of Senate Bill Nd. 616, passed at the last session of the State Legislature, granting to the City Of Chula Vista, the tide lands fronting on the city's bey front. GRADING FIFTH AVENUE AND K STREET: 1I1e matter of grading 5th Avenue and K Streets, and changing the channel of a ravine near that intersection, was reported upon by the city attorney. His report was to the effect that the owner of the land adjoining is willing to authorize the change of the channel of the ravine, and is willing to have the entire work sta.ted by May I, 1926. Referred to the city attorney and Trustee Bent, to have another conference with Mr. Chase. CONTRACT WITH COMMUNITY NURSEI The President of the Board was authorized to sign a contract with Helen M. Jlcott, for her services as Community and School Nurse for a per- iod of one year from August 15,1925, to August 14,1926, upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Wentworth, which carried by the following vote, to-witl AYES: Trustees LYONSî Wentworth, Bent, Peters, Shaw. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. VACATIONS: A vacation for a period of 10 days, effective August 21, 1925, wes g granted to NightwatChman Roy Hill, upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which osrri ed. A vacation for a period of two weeks was granted to the City Attorney, effective about September 6, 1925, upon motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which oarried.' ,~ LIBRARY REPORT: The annual report of the Library, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1925, was presented and upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Shaw, was aooepted. Motion carried.
