HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1925/10/27 MINUTES OF AN ADJOUImED REGULAR JllEETING OF THE BOABD OF TRUSTEES, CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, HELD OCTOBER 27, 1925. The Board met pursuant to adjournment, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with President Peters in the chair. Meeting called to order at 7130 p.m. Present: Trustees Peters, Shaw, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent. ' r--' PURCHASE OF LIGHT TRUCK CHASSIS AND CABI This being the time set for opening bids for the purchase of a Light Truck Chassis and Cab, after due advertising according to law, the following bida were opened and declared: Helm Bros. ChulA ViAtA GArA~1 Chevrolet Utility Express Truck Chassis, standard, $650.00, delivered here, For the same chasais, with 30" x 5" heavy duty truck tires, on all four wheels, $685.00, delivered here. For one new Kartin-Parry No. 431 Serv-All Cab, as per cut in catalogulÞ, and mounted on chassis, $50.00 For the same cab, with two-section spring oushions, $55.00, mounted on chassis. HoUT S12III!1eri For one Standard Ford one-ton Truck Chassis, equipped with regu- lar Ford Starter and Ford All Steel open cab, the sum of $587.00, f.o.b. here. Autocar Sales and Service ComtlBDVI For one Type 21-UF Faotory Branch Re}!ul1t Autocar Chassis, including oab sndwindshie1d, paint. solid tire equipment and presto- light lights, for the sum of $1000.00. After discusSion, Mr. Bent moved that the bid of the Autooar Sales and Service Com~, ahove quoted, be accepted. Motion was lost for want of a second. Mr. Shaw moved that the bid of Helm Bros. for a chaBlis with 30" x 5" tires all around, and a cab with split spring cushions, at a oost of $685.00 for the chassis and $55,00 for the cab, total $740.00, be acoepted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lyons, and carried by the following vote, to-witl AYES I Trustees Shaw, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent, Peters. NOESI None. ABSENT I None. STREETS IN LA PLAYA VISTA ADDITIONI Joseph Rundle complained to the board about the condition of Otis, Rooseve1' and Vance Streets, situated in La Playa Vista Addition, stating that the streets were graded, but that they were 'in suoh condition that in wet weather, they were impauab1e. It was decided to have the city engineer oheck up on the grades of these streets and report to the street oommittee. BILL BOABDSI Representatives of Foster Ileiser Company again requested the board to withhold the matter of the final passege of ordinance No. 131, which would ohange the license fee for bill board advertising from $60.00 per year to 1500.00 per year. After a lengthy discussion, Mr. Lyons moved that the present bill boards now in the city, be permitted to remain, but that no new locations be taken by the company, d1eBl the recom- mendation of the Planning Commiuion be obtained, and this approved by the Board of Trus- tees, and that another year' s lioense be issued to the company, when its present license expires. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shaw, and carried by the following vote, to-wit: AYES I Trustees Lyons, Wentworth, Dent, Peters, Shaw. NOES: None. ABSENT: lIone. Ordinance No. 131 will be held as uncompleted as the result of the above action. FLOOD DAMAGEI A letter from Mr. Chas. L. Hazard, complaining that during the last rain, the gutters in front of his property on 2nd Avenue, being fUll of weeds and rubbish, failed to carry off the water, resulting in flooding his land. Decided that the street .epartment w111 clean out the gutters in question. r- ORDINANCE No. 1341 Upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Shew, whioh car- ried, Ordinance No. 134 was placed on its second and final reading. The ordiI1BJlll e was read, and upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seoomed by Mr. Shaw, it was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-witl AYES I Trustees Wentworth, Bent, Peters, Shaw, Lyons. NOBSI None. ABSENT I None. ORDINANCE NO. 1351 Upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which carried, Ordinance No. 135 was placed on its first reading. This is an ordinance pro- viding for a Set-Back Lint for buildings erected in the residence district. STREET MACHINERY: The clerkpresented a letter and literature from the Shepherd- Crook Company, of Los Angeles, offering to sell the city a Road Ripper, for use in tearing up streets. After discuasion, no action was taken. EIIII The city attorney reported on his conference with the Chula Vista Grammar School in connection withthe city purchasing the parcel of land across F Street from the present shcoo1 building. He stated that nothing final had been reached, but that the School Trustees were faTorab1e to selling the land ~o the city for a park, at private sale, it it can be done 1egal1r. Further conferences will be had.
