READING OF MINUTES: The minutes of the last regular meeting of October 5th,
and adjourned regular meeting 01 Ootober 13 and 27, 1925, together with the minutes
of a special meeting of October 19, 1925, were read, and approved as read.
~
FLOOD WATER: The city engineer reported on the matter of the drain across
1st Avenue, at J Street, after h1ø investigation, as directed in the last meeting.
He stated that he found a l5-inch pipe as a drain at that point, and that a pipe
of that size carriee enough water to fill the gutters beyond that point to capacity.
He recommended the installation of a 10-inch, or 12-inch pipe across 1st Avenue,
between I and J Streets, to carry off the water from a natural depression in the
land at that point. This pipe, however, would throw its water into the orchard
of F. W. Stafford, which could be carried off by a ditch. Yr. Stafford presented his
views in the matter, complaining that the l6-inch drain above mentioned has been
stopped with rubbish and silt; that if the gutters are cleaned, there will be no
more trouble, and that he will oppose the running of water through his orchard.
Decided by the street committee that the drain and gutters will be cleaned at once,

asking for permission to remove the euclayptus trees from the east side of National

remOl e the doubt.
