MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA,
HELD DECEMBER 1,1925.
The Board met in regular session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on
the above date, with President Peters in the chair. Meeting called to order at 7.00 p.m.
Present. Trustees Peters, Shaw, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent.
READING OF MI~roTES. The minutes of the last regular meeting of November 3,1925,
and the minutes of an adjourned regular meeting of November 17, 1925, were read, and
approved as read.
DUMPING RUBBISH IN STREETS. The clerk reports that Mr. Hornbeck, the County
Supervisor of this district had verbally left a message to the Board, to the effect thet
he would do all in his power to cooperate with the Board in preventing the dumping of
rubbish and garbage in the Telegraph Canyon road, where it adjoins the city.
PERIODICAL REPORTS. The monthly reports of the City Recorder and Community Nurse,
for the month of Bev8Íllbe,", 1925, were read, and ordered filed.
RURAL MAIL BOXES. The Postmistress of the city, in a letter, complained about the
condition of the streets at a number of rural mail boxes. Clerk directed to reply to
the letter, quoting the minutes of October 7,1924, after the street superintendent hes
checked up the contition of the streets in the places mentioned.
RESOLUTION 135. TELEPHONE RATES. Mr. Shaw offered Resolution No. 135, which is a
resolution declaring the intention of the Board to cooperate in all reasonable ways in
the movement started by the City of Los Angeles', to lower the telephone rate, through-
out Southern California. The resolution was read, and upon motion by Mr. Shew, seconded
by Mr. Wentworth, it was passed, adopted and approved, a s reed, by the following vote,
to-wit. AYES. Trustees Shew, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent, Peters. NOBS. None. ABSENT. None.
PLANNING COMl4ISSION. MINUTES OF MEETINGS. The minutes of the meetings of the Plan-
ning Conmhsion of November 23, 1925, and November 30, 1925, were reed. Each paragraph
was discussed separately, and upon motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Lyons, all the
reconmendation. made by the Planning Commission in the above dated minutes, were approved
except the matter pertaining to sewerage system, and that was held over until the next
meeting, when the city health officer will be present to give his views on a tentative
plan now under consideration. The motion carried by the following vote, to-wit. AYES.
Trustees Shaw, Lyons, Wentworth, Bent, Peters. NOES. None. ABSENT. None.
The minutes of November 9,1925, and the item therein pertaining the purchase of
eight acres of land on third avenue, <between Madrona and G Street, was again brought up,
having been held over from the læt meeting. Upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded '!by
Mr. Wentworth, it was decided to include this parcel of land on the ballot at the
contemplated election for the purchase of park land. The motion carried by the follow-
ing vote,to-wit: AYES. Trustees Lyons, Wentworth, Peters, Shaw. NOES. Trustee Bent.
ABSENT. None.
ORDINANCE NO. 136, Upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Shaw, Ordinæce No.
136 was placed on its first reeding. This is an ordinance amending Ordinæce No. 106,
which amendment will serve to extend the present inner fire district along Third Avenue,
to include a point opposite Davidson Street. '
STREET MARKERS, Upon motion by Mr. Lyons, seconded by Mr. Shaw, which carried,
it was decided that the Street Department will paint the names of all streets in the city,
on the concrete curbs, Where such curbs exist, and where there are no curbs, the present
street markers will be repainted and reset, replacing with new posts, those that are so
far decayed tq be of no further use, or where there are any missing.

TIDE LANDS. Mr. R. 1:.. Pray ,advised the board that he is looking after the interests
of the owner of the former Yacht Club Wharf, and that he stands ready to pay the tide
land rental whenever a bill is presented by the city.
SET-BACK LI~!E, The city attorney read Chepter 735, of the California Statues on
the subject of an ordinance providing for a set-back line for buildings. The matter was
discussed at length, and it was decided that the city attorney w111 take up the matter
with W. J. Locke, Executive Secretary of the California State League of Municipalities,
asking for information as to Whetner or not any set-back ordinances are being tried in
the courts of the state; also, any other information Mr. Loeke may care to give on the
subJec, he being recognized as an authority on such laws.
