VISTA, CALIFORNIA, HELD JANUARY If¡ 1927. ~e Board met in regular session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with President Peters presiding. Meeting called to order at 7100 p.m. Present: Trustees Peters, Scott, Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes. READING OF MII.'UTESI The minutes of the last regular meeting of :December 7, 1926, and adjourned regular meetings of :December 13 and 21,1926, were read, and approved as read. I- I . PRINTINGI This being the time set for opening bids for printing during the ensuing year, the fOllowing bids were opened and declared. :Denrich Press, for Items Nos. I, 3, 4,6, 6 and 7, of the specifications, for the lot, .62.00. Chula Vista Star, For items Nos. 1 and 2, publishing legal notices and legal matter, 90 cents per column inch, for first insertions; 72 cents per column inch, for subsequent insertions. For printing i.ems above, for the lot, .66.26. ~e printing was given to the Denrioh Press, except Item No.4; this item given to the Chula Vista Star, its bid for that one item being lower than that of the other bidder. The publishing was given to the Chula Vista Star, at the prices a~ove, there being no other bid. The above action taken on motion by Mr. Scott, seo- onded by Mr. Lyons, which carried qy the following vote, to~itl AYES I Trustees Scott, Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes. Peters. NOES. None. ABSENT 1 None. SEWER DISTRICT NO. I. A number of property owners of the city having assembled entered into a discussion in connection with the .matter of house connections to the 'sewer system, now undergoing construction. There being a gooaly Dumber present, the President of the Board, in view of the large amount of work before that body, announced that only tax payers would be permi tied to talk. MaD;\' questions were asked and answered and the asøambly was finally instructed to be preaent when the ordinance, which is pending, is placed on its first reading. This ordinance will govern the entire sewer system. ~ r I PERIODICAL REPORTSI The monthly reports of the City Recorder and Fire Chief, together with the quarterly report of the City Marshal, for the period ending Dec. 31, 1926, were read, and upon motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Ur. Scott, which carried, were ordered received and filed. . BOARDS APPOINTEDI The President nominated the follcming to compose the Plumbera Bxaminin~ Board for the ensuing year: Messrs. W. D. Wentworth, of the Board ,of Trustees, W. K. Hayes, Dr. F. E. Ashcroft, R. J. Wharton and Mark Skinner. The President t~en nominated Messrs. J. R. Scott, of the Board o~ Trustees, A. M. Proctor and H. L. Jones, to compose the Blectric Bzaminin~ Board, luring the ensuing year. The President, also, nominated Ur. Edgar D. The above nominations were all confirmed upon motion by !Jr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Barnes, which carried unanimously. ~'- POLIC. DEPARTJlBNTI A letter from Mr. :Don S. CoOk, Manager of the Automobile De- partment of the San Di ego Sun, was read, in which Jû'. Cook oomnends Traffic Officer Patterson, of this city, for gentlemanly and courteous conduct, while handling traffic recently. Upon motion by Ur. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which carried, the clerk was instructed to furnish a copy of the the letter to the Police Department, with a letter of transmittal, voicing the appreciation of th,e Board. The letter to be brought to the attention of all members of the police force. Scott, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which carried by the foll,'wing vote, to-wit: AYES: Trustees Scott, Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes, Peters. NOES. None. ABSENT: None. ZONINGI The Tentative Report Of the City Planning Commission, together with a ten- tative map of the proposed zones and districts, were presented, and the report read; the map being examined by the Board. Mr. Wentworth then presented Resolution No. 181, which is a resolution calling a public hearing to be held in the City Hall, on the evening of January 11, 1927, and directing the City Clerk to publish a notice to that effect. The resolution was read, and upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Scott, it was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to~itl AYESI Trustees Wentworth, Barnes, Peters, Scott, ~ons. NOES: None. ABSENT I None. \ l_.r- BORDER LINE CLOSING HOURI Upon motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Wentworth, which carried unanimously, the city attorney was iƓtructed to draw up a resolution commending the action of the U. S. Authorities in refusing to permit the border line at Tia Juana to be kept open later than 6100 o'olook p.m., and to urge said authorities to continue such refusal. The resolution to be delivered to Mayor Bacon, before his de¡;arture for Washington, D.C., which is scheduled to take place during the current week. FIRE DEPARTMENTI A letter from the secretary of the Chula Vista Fire Department, asking that the rate of payment to volunteer firemen be changed from $2.00 for each fire attended, to $2.00 for the first hour of any fire, and $1.00 per hour for each suc- ceeding hour, per man. Upon motion by Ur. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the re- quest was granted, by the following vote, to~itl AYES I Trustees Wentworth, Barnes, Peters, Scott, Lyons. NOES I None. ABSENT. None. ORDINANCE No. 1591 Upon motion by Mr. Wentworth, seconded by Mr. Lyons, which car- ried, Ordinance No. 159 was placed on its first reading. This an ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 122, pertaining to bill boards. OIL STATIONSI Upon motion by Mr. Scott, seconded qy Mr. Wentworth, which car- ried, all entrances to oil or service stations was limited to 35 feet in widtk. TOILET IN CITY BJL~S. The plumbing inspector reported that he had received com- plaints to the effect that there is no t6ilet available at the city barns for use Of the employees working there. Upon motion by Ur. Barnes, seconded qy Mr. Lyons, which oar- ried, the plumbing inspector was directed to have a toilet installed and to connect to the septic tank now On the premises. The plumbing inspector to invite informal bids from local plumbers for the work, and present them at the next meeting of the Board. SUTHERLAN:D BUS TRANSPORTATIONt Upon motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Scott, which carried, the clerk was instructed to write a letter of appreciation for the excellent transportation furnished by the Sutherland Buses, during the past year.
