MINUTES OF D ADJOURNED REGULAR MBBTING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTBBS, CHULA VISTA,
CALIFORNIA, HELD JUNE 14,1927.
!he Board met pursuant to adjournment in the Council Chamber of the City Hall,
on the above date, with President Peters presiding. Meeting called to order at 7,30
p.m. Present I ~ruste88 Petera, Scott, Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes.

BILLS PAID, Upon motion by ~r. Scott, seconded by Tr. Wentworth, which carried,
the following bills, having been 8%amined by the finance committee, were ordered paid.

NORTH FOURTH AVENUB. CHANGING GRADE OF, Jlesars. Benton and Barrow, again appeared
and asked what action 18 cO.templated on changing the grade of 4th ..lTenue. Oity Buginear
reported as directed at the meeting of May 16,1927, as tc cost of changing grade, etc.
Jlatter again referred to city engineer to see if a compromise cannot be arranged as to
the grade to establish.
FIRB DIS1'1IIC~ Rr!I'.In>TION. lfr. J. s. Odom asked for a temporary permit to construct
a non-fireproof building at the corner of National Avenue ~ G Street; the building
to remain fer a period of apprcximately 18 months; to be built on skids and ready to
mOTed to the rear of the lot, outside the fire district, as socn as a fireproof build-
ing can be constructed, which time., lfr. Odom anured would be in approximately 18
months. upon motion by Mr.Scott, seccnded by ~r. Wentworth, which carried unanimously,
a tempcrary permit was granted for a peri cd of not to 8Kceed 18 mcnths, revokable b1
the Board of Trustees at any time, to build the building set forth above.
GRADING FIF1'1I AVENUE AND K S'rREET. Mr. E. F. Chase appeared and asked what ac-
tion is being taken in the matter of grading and opening 5th Avenue, between J and X
Streets, and K Streets, between 5th and 6th Avenues. This work had been promiBed some
time ago. It appears that 5th Avenue iB practically all graded and surfaced, e:r:cept
a bridge, or culvert, that will be necessary to complete the opening of the street
through to K Street. The city engineer 88timated the bridge will cost between $2500
and $3000. Mr. Chase was informed that the work will be completed as soon as funds can
be made available for the bridge.
SEWER DIS1'1IICT No. I. Mr. Chester A. Smith, of the firm of engineers in Charge
of installation of the .ewer system, advised tha Board that the assessment roll for the
work is completed, but that ae the work of putting in the sewer system is not completed,
the roll cannot be presented and filed. However, as he had the roll in hiB posseuion,
it was 8%amined and uplained as the methods used in arriving at the as..ument against
the various parcels of land.
VACATIONS. J. W. Scott, mechanic in the city garage, asked for a week's vacation,
stRrting July 5, 1927. Gtanted on motion by Mr. Scott, ceconded by Mr. Wentworth, which
carried.
R. J. Wharton, Building, Plumbing and Sewer Inspector, asked for two weeks vaca-
tion, commencing June 20,1927. Granted upon motion by Tr. Scott, seconded by ~r. Barnes,
which carried.
CITY DUMP. The city attorney reported on the steps he has taken to purchase frcm
the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, sufficiant land for a city dumping ground. He wrote
Mr. 'r. C. Macaulay, of the San Diego Chamber, asking that the proposition of the city for
the purchase of the land be considered, and Mr. )facaulay us stated that he will bring
it up fer consideration.
ADJOURNMENT. Upon motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Scott, which carried,
the Board adjourned to 7,30 p.m., June 28, 1927.
