Join us for the Charter Review Commission meeting at the time and location specified on this agenda to make your comments. Each person will be allotted three (3) minutes to address the Commission. • Submit an eComment. Visit www.chulavistaca.gov/boardmeetings, locate this meeting, and click the comment bubble icon. Click on the item you wish to comment on, then click "Leave Comment." The commenting period will close three (3) hours before the meeting. • Mail or email comments. CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Charter Review Commission of the City of Chula Vista was called to order at 6:06 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Secretary Cornejo called the roll. 3. CONSENT CALENDAR 3.1 Approval of November 8, 2023 Meeting Minutes Moved by Commissioner Disharoon Seconded by Victor Lopez Motion to approve minutes. ACTION ITEMS 5.1 Selection of Chair and/or Vice Chair for Fiscal Year 2023 -2024 Moved by Commissioner Disharoon Seconded by Commissioner Hopida Motion to appoint Commissioner Buddingh as Chair. Yes (4): Commissioner Buddingh, Commissioner Disharoon, Commissioner Hopida, and Victor Lopez Result:Carried (4 to 0) 5.3 Discussion Regarding Potential Charter Amendment Allowing Suspension of a Councilmember Under Certain Circumstances Public Comment: Theresa Acerro, emailed in support of suspension of a councilmember. Consensus from the Commissioners to schedule a special meeting at a future date and reagendize item 5.3 to reflect a vote to take action. OTHER BUSINESS 6. STAFF COMMENTS Assistant City Attorney Megan McClurg informed Commissioners of the vacancy we have on the Charter Review Commission. 7. CHAIR'S COMMENTS Chair Buddingh announced agendizing an update to Charter section 303 and adding time to the appointment process for our next meeting. 8. COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS Commissioner Lopez inquired about campaign contributions being under the Municipal Code.
