TbS Council met pursuant to adjournment, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with Mayor peters presiding. Meeting called to order at ?:~0 p.m. Present: Mayor Peters, Councilmen Lyons, Scott, Barnes, ~entworth. The city clerk being absent on vacation, the Mayor appointed Councilman Lyons to act as clerk pro tem. MECHANIC IN CITY GARAGE: A letter from J. ~. ~cott, mechanic in the city garage, asking for an increase in wages, was read. The letter was referred to Street Superinten- dent for investigation and report. ADVERTISING: R.M. Pray, advised the bouncll that he contemplated at trip to Chicago, via air mail, and asked that he be furnished with 1000 circulars, used at the county fair, for distribution along the way. The request was granted. SmwJ~LR DISTRICT No. 1: The sewer inspector asked that H. D. Naahold, living on G Street, west of National Avenue, be permitted to purchase sewer benefits, his property lying outside of the present district. The land desired to~e included in the district is as follow~: N 130 ft of the E 60 ft of the W 130 ft of the NE~ of the NE~ of 4~-Section lB3. The cost of this land, computed as other benefits in the district, will be $45.6B, being one and one- quarter benefit. The request was granted upon motion by Cl. Scott, seconded by Cl. Went- worth, which carried unanimously. ~AVING: A letter from the S. D. Country Club, advising the council that if K Street is paved from Srd Avenue to 5thAvenue, the club will pay 90% of the cost thereof, was read. Matter ordered filed, but city clerk to acknowledge receipt. SEWER CONNECTIONS: In the matter of connecting to the sewer system, provided in Sec. 4, of Ordinance No. 1SS, the city attorney~9.~hat any building or structure should pay SB.00 for e connection, if the n~ber of c~L~%~Ffoz in ssi& building or structure does not exceed twenty, and if it exceeds ~wenty fixtures, the fee will be $10.00. He further ruled that a structure or building means each unit of an auto court, bungalow court, or any unit designed for a~person or persons to live in. Mr. G. H. Turner, having paid for two sewer connections to two dwelling houses on his property, upon recommendation of the city attorney, it was decided to refund to ~. Turner, $~0.00, for one of the connections. The city attorney's ruling was in conformity with the sewer ordinance. Action taken by motion by Cl. Scott, seconded by Cl. V~entworth, which carried unanimously. Mesaers H. D. Nashold and G. ~. Paulson, having had connections laid from the main sewer outfall line to within four feet of the surface of G Street, by the Sewer outfall contractor, it was decided, upon motion by Cl. Scott, seconded by ~1. Wentworth, that each of these parties be allowed a cred it $1B.00 on the cost of a sewer connection, when they connect to the sewer. T~XES~ A letter from the No Higher Tax Association, of San Diego, in connection with the reduction of the tax rate in this city, for this year, was read. The clerk was instructed to reply, thanking the writer. ORDINANCE No. 172: Upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. ~entworth, which carried, ordinance No. 172 was placed on its second and final reading, it was read, and upon motion by Cl. Scott, seconded by Cl. Barnes, which carried, it was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, ~o-wit: AYES: Cl. Scott, Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes, Peters. NOES: None. ASSENT: None. STATE LEAGUE OF 5~W3NICIPALITIES: Upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Wentworth, which carried, it was decided that when any official of this city attends the convention of the state league of municipalities, his expenses will be paid by the city. The city clerk to furnish credentials to anyone attending the convention. ADJOURM~5~: Upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Scott, the council adjourned to ?:30 p.m., September 27, 192~.
