Meeting called to order at 4~00 p.m. Prexent~ Councilmen Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes, Mayor Peters. Councilman Scott absent. COUNTRY CLU~ ?IL~AS~ A letter from the San Diego Country Club, expressing satisfaction with the change ~ade in the kind of pavement to be laid on E Street, from 3rd to 5th Avenues, was read. It ha~ been heretofre decide4 to la~ ee,.ent, and later changed to asphaltic concrete. The letter was ordered filed with the proceedings of this work. An agreement from the Westinghouse Company, to furnish lighting standards for this work, at a pries of .$~,~o each, read, an~ upon motion by Cl. seoonded by Cl. Barnes, they were accepted and ordered file~ in the office of the city clerk. The resolution was re~d, and was passed, adopted and approved by the foll~wing vote, to-~it: AYES, Cl. Lyons, Wentworth, Barnes, Peters. NOES~ None. AB~m'~ Cl. Scott. Ol. Barnes then offered Resolution No. 212, which is a resolution requesting permission of the County Supervisors to improve portions of $th Avenue and L Streets. The resolution was reacl, ~nd was passe~, adopted an~ approve~, as read by the follow- lng vote, to-wit~ AYES, Cl. Barnes, Peters, Lyons, Uentworth. NOES~ None. ABS~NT~ CL. INDI~'~ ~ICE: The city attorney reporte~ a conference he had had with the city health officer in connection with an anbulanoe charge against this city for the re. oval of an indigent sick patient to the ceunt~ isolation hospital. Clerk ~lrected to have city health off leer present at the ~xt meeting. ~NCI~A~E OF PAY FOR POLIC~ ~he question of increasing the pay of police officers was again brought up by Chief Clyne. Ne insisted that the pay of all officers of the force should be increased $$5.00 per month. After discussion, upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Lyons, the pay of each offioeFin the police del~rt~f.~ ~;~ was increased $15.00 per month, ~ in case the motorcycle or automobile, or~ ~A~,~: of any officer le ~smaged while sai~ officer is engaged in actually pursuing or appre- ~ hending a law violator, the city will have such machine or clothing repaired at the expense of the city. This arrangement to become effective Oct. 14, 1927. The motion carried by the following vote, to-~it: AYES~ Cl. Barnes, Peters, Lyons, ~entworth. NOEs~ None. AB~T~ Cl. Scott.
