The time for the regular meeting of the City Council, Chula Vista, California, having arrived, viz: 7:00 o'clock P.M., on the above date, and none of the me,bore of the said City Council appearing, the clerk postponed and ndJourned said regular meeting tO 7:30 p.m., November 2, 1927. Ail members of the said Council were notified of such postp~n~ent. City Clerk. NXNUTES OF AN ADJOUIt~ EEG~W.A~ t~?ING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, ~ELD N0VEMBER 2, 1927. The Council met pursuant to adJourmaent, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with Mayor Peters presiding. Meeting called So order at 7:30 p.m. Present: Couucilmen Peters, Lyons, Eawkins, Barnes. Councilman Scott, absent. This Being the first meeting attended by Councilman Hawkins, the clerk exhibited the oath of office as subscribed to by Cl. Hawkins. READING OF MINUTES: The minutes of the last regular meeting of Oct. 4th, and adjourned regular meeting of Oct. llth, 14th and 185h, and of special meeting of Oct. 20, 1927, were read and approved after correcting the minutes of Oct. 14th, with ref- erence to the cost of lighting standards. DRAI~G~ A petition, signed by F. W. Stafford and 0. O. Donohue, asking that something be done to properly drain ~lo~.ter in the section Of the city bounded by let and 2n~ Avenues and I and ~ Stre~ After discussion, it was agreed to have the city engineer set grade stakes where needed, when further action will be ta~ in the matter. P~I~IOD~CAL REPORT~ The monthly reports of the City ~udge and Fire Chief for the months 0~tober, were read and ordered filed. FIP~ HYDRANTS~ Cl. Hawkins brought to the attention of the council the fact that there is no fire hydrant &t let Avenue and J Street, and that that section should have proper fire protection. Referre~ to the Fire Committee, with authority to act, upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by C. Hawkins, which carried. A petition, signed by property owners in that section, asking that a fire hydrant be installed at Davidson Street end Twin Oaks Ave., was read. Referred to Fire Commit- tee to investigate and report at next meeting. BOUI~VAI~D ~TOP~ A letter from Fred A. Sutherland, of Sutherland Stages, was read, in which Mr. Sutherland fete-w-ends that boulevard stops be installed along National Avenue, at all street intersections with National Avenue, throughout the city. He thinks that such aotionwlll prevent accidents, and that thc County Supe~lsore will take similar action along National Avenue south of the city limits. The recom- mendation of Mr. Sutherland accepted and the city attorney directed to prepare the neocssal'~' Ordl~OO. $~WA~R OONI~ECT~0E~ A petition, signed by the property owners on Landis Ave., between Center and F Streets, asking that the city permit connections to be made to the sewer in the alley, by a private concern, was read. Ordered filed. Si~E~AtF2. No. ~ A petition, signed by the property owners of 14~4 feet of frontage on Flower Street, asking that sidewalks and curbs be laid on Flower Street, between National and First Avenues, on both sides of ~treet, and that it extend on both sides of 0odor Avenue, ~h-e~Aea 102 feet north from Flower Street, was rea~. Petition granted and city attorney ordered to prepare the necessary reolution starting the work, upon motion by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by Cl. Lyons, which carried. STREET LIGHT: A petition, signed by the property owners effected, asking that a street light be installed at Davidson Street an& Twin Oaks Ave., was rea~. Upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Lyons, which carried, the matter referred to Street Committee, with po~er to act. Meeting of November 2, 1927, Continued. CITY ZONING~ A petition, signed by the property o~merz effected, azking that the zoning ordinance of the city be change& to permit the North 135 feet and the East 135 feet of Lot 2, 4A-Section 140, to be placed in the business zone, was read. Upon motion by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by Cl. Barnes, the request was granted, an~ the city attorney directed to amend the zoning ordinance accordingly. Notion carried by the following vote, to~vit~ AYES~ Cl. Hawkins, Barnes, Peters, Lyons. NOEB~ None. ABSENT~ Cl. Scott. APP0~T$ TO C0MMITT~5 AND BOABDSI Due to the reei~ation of Cl. W' D. Holmes, dated Sept. 28, 1927, was prezented, and Cl. Lyons offered Nesolution No. ~10, whloh is a resolution accepting ~4 the deed, and naming the land so deeded as part of 5th Avenue. It was read, and upon motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Lyons, it was passed, adopted and approved a~ read, by the following vote, to-wit= AYES= Cl. Barnes, Peters, Lyons, Hawkins. NOES3 None. ABSENT~ Cl. Scott. 0RDINAWCE NO. 174= Upon motion by Cl. Lyons, seconded by Cl. Hawkins, which carried unanimously, Ordinance No. 174 was placed on its first reading. Thiz an ordinance requiring a permit from the fire department to burn dry grass or rubbish from land.
