HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2023-203 RESOLUTION NO. 2023-203 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ADOPTING A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE 2023-2026 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND NON-SAFETY LOCAL 2180, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS WHEREAS, in 2023 the Non-Safety collaboratively toward the development of a mutually beneficial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which the parties entered into for the time period of July 11, 2023 to June 30, 2026; and WHEREAS, on July 11, 2023, the City Council approved the MOU between the City and Non-Safety Local 2180 related to wages and other terms and conditions of employment; and WHEREAS, in November 2023, the City and Non-Safety Local 2180 engaged in informal discussions, and after good faith negotiations, an agreement was reached to amend the MOU; and WHEREAS, the City and Non-Safety Local 2180 have agreed on the terms for amending the MOU to provide: (i) a general salary adjustment for the Paramedic (Non-Safety) classification; (ii) Paramedic Experience Incentive Pay; (iii) enhance Paramedic Scholarship Program; (iv) a contract buyout for the cost of Paramedic school with two-year work commitment with the City; (v) and the expansion of the Field Training Officer pay to include preceptor training; and WHEREAS, the above terms have been memorialized in the First Amendment to the MOU, which is presented for City Council approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it hereby:(i) approves the First Amendment to the 2023-2026 Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Chula Vista and Non-Safety Local 2180, International Association of Fire Fighters in substantially the form presented; and (ii) authorizes and directs the City Manager, or her designee, to execute the First Amendment to the MOU, and make such minor modifications to it as m \[SIGNATURES ON THE FOLLOWING PAGE\] Resolution No. 2023-203 Page No. 2 Presented by Approved as to form by Tanya Tomlinson Jill D.S.
