The Council met in regular session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, on the above date, with MayOr Peters presiding. Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Peters, Councilmen Scott, Lyons, H~wkins, Barnes. READING OF MINUTES: The minutes of the last regular meeting of November 1st, and adjourned regular meetings of November 2, 8 and 22, 1927, were read, and approved as read. PIJ. NNING C0~ISSION NIl?UTES: The minutes of meetings of the Planning Commis- sion, held November 19, 1927, and December 5, 1927, were read, axil action taken as follows: November 19th: No action required by the City Council on the minutes of this meeting. December §. 1927: John Shuttlewcrth appealed to this Board on the decision cf the Pl~ing Commission in refusing to recommend for business zone, the land lying along Third Avenue, 130 feet deep, both sides, from SS0 feet North of J Street to SS0 feet South of K Street. Arthur Done, a property owner effected, talked against the Shuttleeorth proposition. Upon motion by Councilman Scott, seconded by Council- man Lyons, the action of the Planning Con~nisston in declining to recommend the above described prOperty as a business zone, was confirmed, the motion carrying by the foll~wing vote: AYES: Cl. Scott, LyonS, Hawkins, Barnes, Peters. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. The arrangement with Tree ~Varden Ellictt to act as supervising Tree Warden, at a salary of $S0.00 per month, was approved. VACATING ~T OF FIFTH AVEEUE: Cl. Lyons offered Resolution No. 220, which is a resolution cancelling and annulling Resolution No. 202. It was read, and was passed, adooted and approved, as read, by the following vote, to-witt: AYES: Cl. Scott, LyonS, Hawkins, Barnes, Peters, NOES: None. ABSENT: None. C. Barnes then offerred Resolution No. 221, which is a resolution of intention declaring it to be the intention to vacate that part of Sth Avenue, which is described in said resolution. It was read, and was ~m~ssed, adopted and approved, as read, by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Cl. Hawkins, Barnes, Peters, Scott, Lyons. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ORDINANCE NO. 177: Upon motion by Cl. Scott, seconded by Cl. Lyons, which carried, Ordinance No. 177 was placed on its first reading. This is an ordinance creating a --- Planning Commission, as prescribed by a recent State law, and pealing the present ordinance under which the Planning Con~nission operates. PERIODICAL .W~EPORTS: The monthly reports of the 0ity Judge and Fire Chief, for the month of No~ember, were read, and ordered received and filed. REF0~NDS ON SEWER CONNECTIONS: Upon motion by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by Cl. Lyons, which carried, it was decided to refund the difference in the amounts 10aid by property Owners, as required by Ordinance No. l§S, and the emounte provided by Ordinance No. 175, for sewer connections. The clerk to voucher the various amounts for the next meeting of thic Board. STREET LIGHT: A petition, signed by the majority of the property owners on Flower Street, asking for street lights, one each, at 1st Ave. and Flower, and midway between let and National Aves., on Flower. Referred to the Street Committee, for action, with power to act, upOn motion by Cl. Barnes, seconded by Cl. Hawkins, which carried. Street SiRns: A~ anlra~mona letter, purporting to be from the "Committee of National Avenue Property Owners", but with no signature, again dom-haling that the "Ohula Vista" sig~s at National Avenue and E and J Streets be removed. ~ailure to so remove .the signs, it is threatened that all of the city west of Highland Avenue, will secede.
