CALIF01~RIA, HELD APRIL 21, 1930.
The Council met pursuant to adjournment, in the Council Chamber of the City, on
the above date, with Mayor Peters presiding. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Present: Me~vor Peters, Cl. Lyons, Hawkins, Barnes. Gl. Scott absent.
~-NICIPAL ET2CTION: The regular municipal election having been held in this city,
on April 14, 1930, and this being the time set by law for canvassing the result of
such election, the Council proceeded to canvass the votes cast at said election. The
clerk presented the "Result of Election" as signed and presented to him by the election
board, and Resolution No. 312 was offered by Cl. Barnes. The resolution was read,
and is as follows:

W~EAa, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the City of
Chula Vista, California, on Monday, the 14th day of April, 19~0, as required by law,
AND WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given,
that voting precincts were properly established, that election officers were appointed
and election supplies furnished, and that in all re~pecta said election was held and
conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof,
made, determined and declared in tLme, form a~d ,~--er as required by the general laws
of the state providing for and regulating municipal elections in cities of the fifth
and sixth class,
AND WH~EA~, the City Council of said City of Ohula Vista, California, met at
the Council Chamber thereof, on Monday, the 21st day of April, 1990, to canvass the returns
of maid election and install the newly elected officers; and whereas the Council finds
aa a result of said canvass that the nnmber votes cast, the names of the persons voted
for, and other matters required by law, to be as hereinafter stated, now therefore, it
is hereby
RESOLVED, determined and declaret an follows:
That said regular mu~loipal election was held and conducted in the City of
Chula Vista, Calif~nia, on M0nday, the 14th day of April, 19~O, in t~me, form and manner,
as required by law.
That there was one voting precinct established in said Oily, for the purpose of
holding said election, as follows:

RESOLVED, therefore, that at said general municipal election held in the
01ty of Chula Vista, California, on April 14, 19~0, the following persmas were elected
to the following offices, respectively:
Robert T. Oonyers was elected a member of the City Council for the full term
of four yea~s, from and after Monday, April ~1, 1930, and until his successor is
elected and qualified;
~thur Done was elected a member of the City Council for the full term
of four years frma and after Monday, April ~1, 1930, and until his successor is elected
and Qualified;
Vincent L. ~owe was elected a member of the City Council for the full term
of four years from and after Monday, April 21, 1930, and until his successor is elected
am1 qualified.

American labor in the city positions.
Upon motion Cl. Lyons, seconded by Cl. Barnes, which carried, the

been placed in a sealed envelope and deposited with Mayor Peters, Sept. 12, 19~2, was
returned to the city clerk, by Meyer Peters, with the seals intact.

~ O0UNOTTA~: The clerk then took oha~ge of the meeting, and after administering
the oath of office to C&nncilmen elect Conyere, Done and Howe, then presenting each with
the official notification of election, called for nomination for the office of Mayor. It
was moved by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by Cl. Howe, that Cl. Done be the Mayor during his term
of office. Upon motion, duly seconded, the nominations were closed, and a vote on the
motion was as follows, to-wit: AI~: Cl. Hawkins, Howe, Conyers, Lyons. NOES: Cl. Done.

Mayor Done, in a short talk, expressed confidenne in the new council, and hoped
the present harmony would prevail throughout the terms of office of this coundil, and
prc~isad to do all in his power to work for the best intereste of the oity~ that ha
would expect loyal support from all e~ployez of the city, and in turn would stand squarely
behind every employs and official in the psrf~w-,A-es of his duties, w~v~nony is the
thing desired, and he believed that all departments should pull together for the one
end - efficient and prompt nerviee by all.
0ITY ATTORNET: A wrltten applicatlonbyMr. Lowell Howe was filed for the posi-
tion of City Attorney. Upon appt&eatienmotion by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by Cl. Lyons,
~hich carried, the application was not eoneidered for the reason that no vacancy exists
for the office of Oity Attorney.
BUILDING INSPEOTGR: A written application by Mr. ~oseph D. Codington was filed
for the position of Building Inspector. Upon motion by Cl. Lyons, seconded by Cl. Howe,
which carried, the application was not considered for the reason that no vacancy exists
for the position of Building Inspector.
AUDIT 0FRE00~DS: In the matter of the annual audit of the records of the City
Treasurer, 0ity Yudge and City Olark, two proposals were received for the work, viz:
L. S. Everts & Co., of San Diego, offered to perform the work for a flat sma of $150.00.
Harold ~ranks, of Chula Vista, proposed to perform the work at a stipulation of $15.00
per day, with a maximumpayment of $160.00, and a minimum limit of $100.00. This work
to include the business 1~ansaeted by the three offices from April 1, 1929, to
31, 1930. Upon motion by Cl. Conyers, seconded by Cl. Lyons, which carried, the pro-
posal of Harold FrR-ks WaS accepted.
POLICE E~PART~IT: In the matter of the wrecking of a motorcycle ridden by
Traffic 0ffioer Taylor, recently, the Pacific Indemnity Ocmz~any proposed to pay the
costs of repairs to the machine, $167.70, provided the city clark is authorized tq sign
a release for that e~aount. In conssquanse, Cl. Conyars offered Resolution No. 313.,~which
is a resolution authorizing the clerk ~ign a release as above speoifie~. The resolution
was read, and was passed adopted and approved as read, by the following vote, to-wit:

OITT ~Av~. VAULT: The combination to the vault in the city clerk's office, in
a sealed envelope, as received fro ex-Mayor Peters, was turned over to N~vor Done, to
be kept by him and used only in an emergency when the clerk is incapacitated.
0RDINANOENo. 203: Upon motion by Cl. Hawkins, seconded by C1. Lyons, which
carried, Ordinance No. 20~ was placed on its first reading. This is an ordinance regu-
lating street signs.

the Oouneil adjourned sine die.
