REGULAR MEETING OF THE SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
July 10, 2023, 5:00 p.m.
City Hall, Bldg. #C, Conference Room B-111

Present: Raymundo Alatorre, John Knox, Chair Korgan, Hayley Salazar
Absent: Crystal Fairley, Commissioner Guevara-Gluyas
Also Present: Environmental Services Manager Medrano, Secretary Rodriguez
1. CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Sustainability Commission of the City of Chula Vista was
called to order at 5:05 p.m. in Conference Room B-111 located in City Hall,
Building C, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista California.

4.3 DISCUSSION REGARDING THE ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES
AND AUTHORIZING THE CHAIR TO WORK WITH STAFF TO FINALIZE

5. STAFF COMMENTS
Environmental Services Manager Medrano shared that new green waste mailers
where sent out to residents, provided an update on the littler collection kit and on
new commissioner appointments. Concluded by sharing information on the
upcoming NatureSpace workshop.
6. CHAIR'S COMMENTS

Chair Korgan shared that there is now a candidate running for City Attorney.
7. COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS
Commissioner Salazar shared that in her visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming she
was impressed by the sense of community and how people were very eco
conscious and recognizing food establishments with a sticker. The sticker let the
public know that they have zero waste and or are composting. She would like to
see something similar to this program implemented in the city.
Commissioner Alatorre mentioned he would like to see businesses focus on one
item at a time and suggested pizza boxes as an example.
Commissioner Knox mentioned he had a chance to read the CLEAN newsletter
and thought it was very comprehensive and had a question regarding the
Synergy Residential Energy Solutions Program. He then asked what impact if
any does the rejection of Berkeley's electrification ordinance have on the city.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
