CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Sustainability Commission of the City of Chula Vista was called to order at 5:05 p.m. in Conference Room B-111 located in City Hall, Building C, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista California. i=ce ZT614 Wa-. V1 LP Secretary Rodriguez called the roll. 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS One public comment submitted by resident Scofield 4. ACTION ITEMS 4.1 APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF JUNE 12, 2023 Moved by Raymundo Alatorre Seconded by John Knox 1 Motion to approve the meeting minutes of June 12, 2023 Yes (4): Raymundo Alatorre, John Knox, Chair Korgan, and Hayley Salazar Result:Carried (4 to 0) 4.2 ELECT NEW CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023 - 2024 Moved by Chair Korgan Seconded by John Knox Motion to re-elect Commissioner Korgan as Chair and Commissioner Guevara-Gluyas as Vice Chair Yes (4): Raymundo Alatorre, John Knox, Chair Korgan, and Hayley Salazar Result:Carried (4 to 0) 4.3 DISCUSSION REGARDING THE ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES AND AUTHORIZING THE CHAIR TO WORK WITH STAFF TO FINALIZE AND SUBMIT REPORT Moved by Chair Korgan Seconded by Raymundo Alatorre Motion for Chair Korgan to work with staff to finalize and submit the annual report of activities Yes (4): Raymundo Alatorre, John Knox, Chair Korgan, and Hayley Salazar Result:Carried (4 to 0) OTHER BUSINESS 5. STAFF COMMENTS Environmental Services Manager Medrano shared that new green waste mailers where sent out to residents, provided an update on the littler collection kit and on new commissioner appointments. Concluded by sharing information on the upcoming NatureSpace workshop. 6. CHAIR'S COMMENTS K Chair Korgan shared that there is now a candidate running for City Attorney. 7. COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS Commissioner Salazar shared that in her visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming she was impressed by the sense of community and how people were very eco conscious and recognizing food establishments with a sticker. The sticker let the public know that they have zero waste and or are composting. She would like to see something similar to this program implemented in the city. Commissioner Alatorre mentioned he would like to see businesses focus on one item at a time and suggested pizza boxes as an example. Commissioner Knox mentioned he had a chance to read the CLEAN newsletter and thought it was very comprehensive and had a question regarding the Synergy Residential Energy Solutions Program. He then asked what impact if any does the rejection of Berkeley's electrification ordinance have on the city. 8.
