The meeting was called to order at ? ~o'clock P.M., Present: Councilman Keithley, Burnside, Riesland, Chase, Kidder. ~bsent: None. RESOLUTION N0o738,: Councilman Chase offered l~esolution No.738. ~his is ~ Resolut'i'on employing a City Engineer. The Resolution was read in full and was passed, adopted and ~oproved by the following vote, to-wit: ~ves: Councilmen Chase, Burnside, Kidder, Riesland, Keithley. Noes: None. Absent: None. ABS~l'mm ,B~?,?~TS:, The clerk having declsred that all Absentee Ballots were received and accounted for, the Mayor ~ppointed Councilw~n Kidder und Councilman Riesland as checkers and authorized them to cotmt the Absentee Ballots in the m~n~er provided by law. The results were as follows:- Don M. Ohsee 8; Charles B.Casey 9; Ralph V. Dyson 8; Lorenz O.Koester 10;' Charles Majors l; Me~Aita B.0'Brien l; William Owens 2; For Counc~n; For City Treasurer: Beatrice Taylor 14. Measures: Shall the City of Chula Vista, California, adopt the City Manager Form of government as provided for in Ordinance No.3~57 For 10; ~gainst ~. Bond Proposition No.1. For Sewer System - For 10; Against 9. Bond Proposition No.2. For New Civic Center - For 9; Against ll. CARD ROOM ~PPLIGATION: M~r. Reid applied for permission to operate card room at 429 National Avenue, Chula Vista, formerly operated by Mr. Willi~n F.Thor~oSOno The mpplication having been turned over to the Chief of Police for his investiga- tion, and his recommendation for ~pproval being attached, it was moved by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Councilman Burnside, ~nd carried, that upon payment of the proper fee, the license be granted. CITY DL~NAGER'S RESIG~ATION,:,, Mr. George C.R~y, City Manager ~ud Plsmning Director, in a letter to the council, tendered his resignation effective immediately. ~nereupon it waS moved by Councilman Keithley, seconded by Councilman Chase, end carried, that ~.Rsy's resignation be accepted and that he be paid to April 30 inclusive° Roll Gall was as follows: ~yes: Councilmen Keithley, Chase, Burnside, Kidder, Riesland. Noes: None. ~bsent: None° Foll~*ing this the City Attorney requested authority to draft an Ordinance repealing the former City Manager Ordinance. The City Attorney was authorized to do so by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Burnside, Kidder, Riesland, Keithley, Chase. Noes: None. ~hsent: None. CMC OE~W~ER PLAI~: It was Roved by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Councilman BUrnside, and carried, that the City ~ttorney investigate the position in ~,~ich the city finds itself in the n~tter of a further drafting of the plans for the Civic Center by ~Lr. E.Charles Parke, architect, but to report back at the next meeting. RESOLUTION I~0.741: Counci~u Kidder offered Resolution No.741. This is ~ Resolution accepting Deed to Lot 56 in Roseb~k. The Resolution was read in full aud ~s passed, adopted ~ud approved by the following vote, to-wit: ~yes: Councilmen Kidder, Riesle~, Keithley, Chase, Burnside. Noes: None. ~bsent: None. U.S.0o BUILDING: Councilman Btu-nside moved that all negotiations for purchase of the UoS.0.Building be stopped until the new council was seated and further consideration could be given. The motion was lost for the want of a second° Upon motion by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Counci!~ Keithley, ~hich carried, the City %ttorney was authorized and instructed to investigate the statUs of ~egotiations for the purchase of U.S.0.Building, and report at next meeting. DEPUTY CIERK'S S~LARY: The City Clerk asked for clarification of the salary status of ~rs.Taylor, who is now serving as Treasurer ~ud Deputy City Clerk. ~fter discussion it was agreed that, until the end of the present budget year, I~s. Taylor shall receive $175.00 per month as Deputy City Clerk, end $B5.00 per month as City Treasurer, tasking a total of SB00.O0 per month, it being requested that it is clearly understood that this does not establish necesss~rily her salary rate, when the discussion of new budget c~s up for Yuly l, 19~6.
