The Council met in regula~ session in the Council Ohamber of tho City Hall,
on tho above date, with Mayor Done presiding. W~eting called to order at ?:30 p.
m. Present: Mayor Done, Councilmen Lyons, Bradley. Councilmen H~wo and Conyers,
absent:
~u'£~ OF PREVIOL~ ~E. TINGS: The minutes of the lair regular meeting of
November 3, 1931, haveing been read by each mender of the Council, no changes ap-
pearing to be required, they were approved, as read.
STREET ~z~: Mr. W. N. Drew, by letter and verbally, asked the Council fo~
permission to r~.ove the cypress tree in front of his property at Third Avenue and
Davidson Street. Referred to the Street Superintendent, upon motion by Gl. Lyons,
seconded by Cl. Bradley, which carried.
FIP~E CI~: Fire Ohief Charles E. Smzlth, by letter, asked the Council for
a six m~nths leave of absence, without pay, and that A~et. Chief W. E. Armer be
acting chief, during Smith's absence. Also, that William P. Robison be employed
temporarily, at a s~y of $140.00 per month. Granted upon motion by 01. Lyons,
seconded by Gl. B~adley, which carried.
S~T LIGHTS: The clerk reported on the matter of five street lights that
were ordered installed at the last meeting. The Electric Oc~any informs that it
will install the following lights, without cost to the city: One each at National
and M~mInthah; M~o and Second; Fifth and Bonita. The others, one each at First
and G; ~ and Fourth, could not be installed without a chat*ge fc~ the installation.
Referred to the Street Superintendent to confer further with the Ccm~a-,XT.
ZONING: Mr. Oharles Sheblak, owner of Lots 42, 45, 44 a~ 45, of the Cyer
T~aek, by letter, asked this Counuil to include his property in the business zone.
Olerk instructed to inform Mr. Sheblak that owing to the time and trouble required
to change the zoning ordinemee, 1£ Mr..~Sheblak desires to erect business property
on the abowe mentioned lots, the ~ill favorably consider his request to do,
under the provisons of the Zoning ordinance.
STATE LEAGUE OF M~NIOIPALITIES: The clerk was instructed to purchase one
onpy of the proceedings of the annual meeting of the league, this year, at a cost ¢
$1.50, upon motion by Gl. Bradley, secouded by Gl. Lyons, which carria~.
ALIENS ON PUBLIC W~: Ooplee of records to be kept by contractors employix
labor on public work, received free the Division of Labor Statistics a~ Law ~nfor¢
sent, ordered to turned over the Street Superintendent.
A~a~IODICAL I~T~: ~he monthly reports of the Oity Judge, Fire Chief and
Chief of Police, for the month of Novam_~er, were read and ordered filed.
NIC~ BASE BAIL: A report of the financial tr~usactione of the Ohula Vista
Athletic Association, fc~ the past season, was presented, and ordered filed.
BAIL BOND~ ]2~ CITY COURT: The city error-ney reported on his action in the
matter of bail bonds filed in the city court, and asked permission to carry the
matter into the courts, if necessary. He was inat~oted to proceed as outlinet.
TITLE TO LAND: A notice that a suit has been bro,,g~t in the Superior Court,
to quiet the title so smme land located in Malta Square, in this city, this suit
-~.wlng Ohula Vista a party to the suit. Ou~ only interest in this matter is city
l~xes now due and delinquent on this land. Matter referred to the city attorney,
for any action neeessax-y.
