A~TI~E DAY: Vel Dage presented a proposition to this Oounoil wherein the
Veterans of Foreign Ware propose to hold an A~stioe D~y celebration in this city,
with a parade an~ all other things tlmt go with such an event. ~e asked permission
to ~istribute circulars or ~d bill~ ~f the event, the distribution to includ~ pla

ARTERIAL HIGHWAYS: In the matter of asking county assistance in maintaining
arterial highways through this city, as brought up at the last meeting of this 0curie
the city attorney was instructed to proceed with the request for such assistance. ~
letter frae Supereleor Hornbook, to the city attorney, was read, in whish Mr. Hornbe
steres that there is no chance of rendering the assistance this year. In this eonne
rise, the clerk exhibited letters to amd from Sure,esr Hastings, wherein Mr. Hast1
had offered such financial aid in 19~1, if the city would assist him in obtaining tk
aid desired; this correspondence showed that the clerk had written Mr. ~atinge, at
that time, advising him that this Council stood ready to assist in any way it could.
~his matter was introduced to counteract Mr, Meeting's recent publication to the el!
that he had tried to aid this city, but the council failed to respond to his offer.
GASOLINe.: A representative of the ]~X'e-?~'"b~n~ Oil 0c~pany again presents
a contract to furnish this city with Bsncoak gasoline, at a top price of 1~ cents pe
gallon, the ountract to run for a period of one year. ~e provision of the contrast
pertaining to lttbricante to be eliminated. ContX*act accepted, and proper official
authorized t~ sign it, ~on motion by Cl. Howe, seconded by 01. Conyers, which oarri

presented and ordered filed.
