The Council m~t in ragular session i;~ the Council (2~nber of the
City of Chule Vista, City Hall, on the above d~te, with Mayo.r~ Keithley
presidimg. The re@sting was called to order a~ 7 o' clock P.~. l~esent:
Councilmen Keithley, Howe, Burmside, Riesla~d sl~d Kidder. Absent: None.
The minutes of the regulmr meeting held August 14 having b~en
prepared a~.d mailed, were approved aS prepared ~ud mailed°
Minutes of the Planning C~mmission mseting held August 7, 194~,
RECP~J~TION GOM~ISSION: The clerk read a letter from M~.Lauderbach
in which there was outli~d a tentatiw program for future activities in tha
City, to,thor with ths reso~dation that the city purchase additional la~d
for recreatiomal purposes. The letter was filed.
POLICE P~ORT: The clerk presented a report of the Police Department
for the month of August. After i~spection by council, the repo~ was filed.
P~.RK LA,SS: On motion by Councilman Rlesl~ud, seconded by Councilman
Bummside, ~ich carried, the City Attorney was authorizsd to prepare an
Ordinance designatimg all of the la~d in Ohula Vista o~ed by the city, and now
used for Park purposes, as Park Larzl.
BI~G~00D %J.TEy: ~ir. Lazano requested that th~ council close the
alley ~ich ru~s from "E'"' 'S'treet ~orth, and which is situated on the East smd
of Brightwood Subdivision. ~fr.Done reportad on the comdition of the alley
and reco~nded that the city abamdo~ s~_~mm. His reaso~ was that it might be
advisable at some future date to extend utility service down this alley.
The City Attorney suggested that the city ab~don the alley, but obtai~ an
easement for the utilities. On motion by Councilman Howe, seconded by
Councilman Kidder, ~aich carried, the City Attorney was instructed to acquire
the necessary easem~ts and prepare to abandon the alley.
EgC~J~TION COI~SION BUDGET: A budget in the amount of $3959.00
prepared by ~r.Lauderbach was pressnte~, and, after discussiom the ~fayor ~ppointed
Councilman Kidder to investigate the posslbilitias of participation by the loll
War Chest.
TRAILER OI~ENANCE:. The queStion of the control smd suparvision of
Trailers within the City limits of Ohula Vista, was egai~ discussed, ~ud, on
~tion by Oouncilmau Rieslaud, seconded by Councilman Howe, which carried, the
City Attorney was instructed to draft au 0rdinauce f~ the regulatiom and
control of same.
P~J~II~G ~I~ETERS: The question of P~rking ~ieters in the city was again
brought up for discussion. ~.~r. Goebels, the Pacific Coast representative for the
I.I.H. Rhodes Company, Stated he thought perhaps there w~re too many meters and
suggested tt~t the hauber be reduced to ~Approxi~ately 125. He said he felt
his company had a valid contract, but a survey sho~ed that there were a m,,mber
of meters installed which ~re not meeded. Upon motion by Councilmam Rieslaud,
seconded by Councilma~ Howe, which carried, the City Attorney was instructed to
amend th~ present Dieter Contract to read that every other meter be takem out,
~d the Rhodes Company instructed to instal the multiple type meters on the
re~ining st~dards.
~J~.Carmen Baker representing a grOup of n~rchamts stated that he waS
losing $40~00 a day on account of parking n~ters being installed, and that he
was not in favor of a compromise, but was in favor of the complete removal of
all meters.
LLr.Halferty was of the sam~ opinion and stated further that he thought the
comp~uy ~ould not ~t adv~ publicity, ~d w~ld not coatest the remov~
of the ~rs. ~g~.~ller~n s~ted t~t he thou~t it would ~ot be so
b~d if we had ~ultiple ~pe ~ters. A letter, conde~i~g the ~rs,
