The Council net in regular session in the Council Chamber of the
City of Chula Vista, City Hall, on the above date, with Mayor Keithley
pr&siding. The meeting was called to order at 7 o' clock P.~o, Presen~
Councilmen K~ithley, Nowe, Burnside, Riesland, Kidder. Absent: None.
l~inutes of the Regular ~eeting held Yuly 10, and Special Meeting
held August ?, 1944, having bean prepared and mailed, were approved as
prepared and mailed.
Minutes of the previous Pl~nming Commission nmetings were reed
and filed.
~E~JEST FOR ,P~J~I~TION: Police Chief, Frank D~pree, asked Council
for permi~slon to install a partition in the ~arage room in the rear of th~
building, and also p~lssion to allow some of his men to work through their
Vacations and receive compensation. On motion by Councilman Burnside,
seconded by Cotmci]~n Kidder, v~ich carried, the requests ~re granted.
Tw~0RARY BUILDING: ~r.Wells of the Telephone Company, tander~d
a letter requesting pe~ission to bring in a temporary building to house
additional switch boards, and, on motion by 0ouncilman How~, s~conded by
Councilm.n Riealand, which carried, permission was granted under the terms
and conditions as set forth in the letter.
THIRD AV~qLTE PRO~ECT: Mr. Freeland, the Engineer hired to make
a survey of necessary 'repairs for Third Avenue, presented his proposal, to-
gether with application to be sent to the Federal Public ~rks Administration.
On motion by Councilman Riesland, seconded by Oouncil~en Kidder, which Carried,
the Mayor was authorized to sign the ~pplicatiOn as presanted.
,l~JE~ FOR CHA~GE 01~ GRADE: ~r.Moore, who owns ~ property on
"I" Street, appeared before the Council to request that the established grade
fOr side-walk on tha South side of "I" Street, be chauged in order that
existing driveways in th~ Butcher Subdivision might conform prol~rly to the
Ordinance. On motion by Councilman Howe, seconded by Counci~n Kidder,
which carried, the City AttOrney was anthorizad to confer with Mt.Adams, and
amend the 0rdiuance and profiles so that ~r.Moore's request might be granted.
RE~ FOR CA~ ROC~ LI(~g~SE: ~r. Yoh~ G. Taylor requested a
Card Room license at ~l~ Third Avenue. On motion by Councilman Riesland,
seconded by Councilman Kiddar, which carried, the request was d~nied bec~se
the present OrdinanC~ does not permit of more thau one Card Room to a block.
0R~INAN~E N0.~9: On motion by Councilman Howe, seconded by
Councilman ~idder, which carrlsd, Ordinance No.~E9 was placed on its second
and final reading. The heading of the 0rdlnanoe was read in full, ~d, on ~
motion by Oounci~m~n Kidder, seconded by Counci~m~n Burnside, which Carried,
fUrther reading of the text was waived. The O~dinance was passed, adopted
and approved by the following vote, to-wit: ~yes: Eidder~Riesland,Eeithley,
Howe, Burnsi de. Noes: None. Absent: None.
