Z.~ight ~er, Counci~ ~ph T. ~i thley, Counc i~ ~ron ~s~nd, Co~ci~ Herb~t V.B~t,City Clerk }~Iayor Howe then proceeded to administer the oath of office to He. bert VoBry~mt, City Clerk, ~ao thereupon took the chair, and, in turn, administered the oath of office to Ralph T~Keithley, Councilman, Z.Ih~ight Kidder, Councilman, and Aaron Rieslaud, Council~n. At this point ~,~.Ti.~uons and ~.Perkins retired, ~ter e:c~ressing their appreciation for the cooperation of the council, and thanking them for their many courtesies extended in the past. They also expressed their congratulations to the newly elected Councilmen, and extended to them their best '~,rl she s. City Clerk Bryant, thereupon called upon the council to choose one of their ~:~embers to act as chairraan, and, after the no~ioation of Ralph Keithley by Councilman Kidder, the nominations were closed, and I~ir.Keithley was duly chosen as chairms~ and i~yor. City Clerk Bryant then turned the ~,~eting over to i,~ayor Keithley, who presided fron then on. ~'~ C01,~,~SSIOI"~S: The subject of appointrsnt of C~mr~issioners was discussed, and the ~Iayor stated he wished to defer the appointment of Con~issioners to a later date. Councilman Burnside was requested to continue as ~re Corrmdssioner until such tithe as the new appointments were reade. PLAhrNING C0~J'~,WSSION ~,,~2,,~1~: ~iayor Keithley appointed Councilm~_au Riesland as Ex-Officio member of the Pl~uning Con~nission. FII~g~'CE C(II,~IT2EE: llayor I~eithley appointed the follcn~ing to act as Finance Committee:- Councilraan Kidder, chairman; Councilman howe, and Councilmau Rie sl and. -r~L~°JSOR I~VEL01K~T: Councilman Howe e~pl.ained that he had been representing the council in the ~atter of Harbor Development aud asked if it was the desire of this council that he continue in the sa~e Capacity. It was the unanir,~.ous expression of the council that he so conti, nue. P~NU3~'~L ~'~OHII~: Councilman Riesland offered a notion that all Pinball 1,~chines in the City of Chula Vista be removed, providing s~me could be done legally under the terms of existing ordinances, etd, if this ~s not possible, that the City Attorney be instructed to draft au Ordinance si~lar to that of tt~ County of San Diego, wilereby the machines could be legally removed. The motion ~,~as seconded by Councilman Kidder, and carried. REPV-JtCEt~a},~ OF Tl~W~l~: The clerk read a letter fromI.lr. Herbert Toapkins, requesti~ that trees be replaced in the parking which were broken off by a driver of au automobile, who was sabsequently cited, and paid the city court danages. Inasmuch as it was the intent of the city to collect the money for replacement of trees, aud $$0.00 having been collected, on motion by Councilraau Riesland, seconded by Councilman Kidder, tiuich carried, the clerk was instructed to ask Street Superintendent LO~ to replace the trees at his earliest convenience. BID FOR TPJ~ILER: The clerk read a cormnunication from S.E.l, tlksell, offering $~.00 for an old trailer located at the Septic Tank, and, on recor~ma-ndation by Street Superintendent Love, that the offer was in line with the value, on motion by Co~u':cilman Burnside, seoonded by Councilmsn Riesland, ~hich carried, the bid of $~.00 was accepted. APPLICATION FOR C~'.I~) ROC~ LI~SE: The Clerk presented au application for card rOom license from I~Lr. H.L. Rabs~. C~ motion by Councilmsm Howe, seconded by Councilman Burnside, ~ich carried, the application was ordered referred to the Chief of Police for investigation. CL~I~.~ FOR D~J~4GES: ~e c~erk presented a claim for $13.00 fron ~,~r. :k.~, claiming injury from falling into a hole in side-walk on Street, between Bey Boulevard ~nd I~ational Avenus on Y~nuary ~l, On motion by Councilman Howe, seconded by Councilman ~Cidder, which carried, the clailn wee referred to the City Attorney for investigation. PdEPAIR OF ST~T ~S0~VEY: The Clerk presented to the council a tentative list of repair materials necessary to repair the streets in Chula Vista. This st~rvey was made by IdroDaVis of the ])aley Corporation in cooperation with Street Superintendent Love, and was a prelinuinery survey only. On ~otion by Councilm~ Rie~l~d, seconded by Councilman Kidder, which carried, the city clerk was instructed to ~rrenge a meeting between the council and ~r. Beuthel of the ~tate Engineers Office, end try and v~rk out some ge~rel program for the i~diate repairs of our streets. PA]~K!NG ~3~EERS: On motion by Council~-n Rieslend, seconded by Council~au Keit~-ley, ~nich carried, the City Attorney was instructed to &raft ~u 0rdinence for the operation of the parking meters now being installed° ABJOUR~:.
