The meeting was called to order at ? o'clock P.M., l~esent: Councilmen Howe, Ttmmons, Perkins, Burnside, Kidder. Absent: None. The minutes of the regular meeting of February l~, 19~, and the Adjourned meeting of February 28, 19&~, having been prepared and mailed, were approved as prepared and mailed. HARBOR DE~W~I~ENT: After a discussion, relative to the merits of the city's participation in the developmemt of San Diego Harbor in our area, it was moved by Council~n B~rnside, seconded by Councilm~n. Tin~aons, and carried, that the Ci~y Clerk be authorized to write to the PI~rbor Development Committee, stating the Council was willing to set aside a sum, not to exceed $10,000.00, for Harbor Development in this area. The Council expressed themselves as favoring the purchase of Fill for specified lamd, rather than sharing the expense of cost of dredging. The mamuer of participation was left for future consider a tion. I~Q~-~T FOR BUS SEAT: Richard Wilson requested permission to install a seat for bus passengers on 't't~e side-walk in front of his restauraut at Third Avenue and Center S~reet. Upon motion of Councllm~u Perkins, seconded by Councilman Kidder, ~hich carried, permission was granted. 01~II~ANCE N0.325: Upon motion by Councilm~m Tin, nons, seconded by Councilman B~rnside, whi'c'~ carried, Ordinance No.Z2O was plmced on its second ~ aud fin'~l reading. The Ordinance was in its exact form as when first read February 28, 19~, and, after the clerk reed the title, upon motion by Councilmen Kidder, seconded by Cotmcilman Ti~mnons, v~ich carried, further reading of the text was waived. The 0rdin~mce was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: AyeS: Councilmen Kidder, Howe, Timmons, Perkins, Burnside. Noes: None: Absent: None. HARBOR DRIVE: The clerk haviag received a letter from the Federel Works Project Co~ftt'~e', relative to the city's participation in the construction of a two (E) lane highway on Bay Boulevard, council was in doubt as to just what the program consisted of, and, thereupo~ instructed the clerk to write a letter to the Co~tssion, asking for more specific info.nation. RATION BOA~D, REETAL: The clerk informed the Council that the owner of the building now occupied by the Ration Board had notified the city that, beginning April 15, 1944, the rent would be raised to $~0.00 per month. The council instructed the city clerk to confer with Supervisor David Bi~d, and see if some cooperative agreement with the Oounty could not be reached relm~ive to shariag the expense of rent, light, heat and Janitor service.
