HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1943/11/08 MT~E$ OF A REGULAR MEET~!~G OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA COUNCIL, IN ~Z~IE CITY OF CHULA V~STA, CALIF0~NIA, ~ ~ NOV~ER S t 1943 The Council met in regular session in the Co,mucil Chamber of the City of Chula Vista, City Hall, on the above date, with Mayor Howe presiding. The meeting was called to order at ? o,clock P.M., Present: councilmen Hews, T4mmons, Perkins, Eidder and Burnside. Absent: None. Minutes efa regular meeting held October alnl and a special meeting held October 19, 1943, having been prepared ~ mailed, were approved as prepared and mailed. Planning Omzmission minutes of meeting held ~ovember 1, 1943, were read. AUDITOR'S HEr0RT: The ~nnual Report of the Auditors - Diehl & Company, for the financial transactions of the City for the Fiscal Year 194~.-1945, was presented to the council by the clerk, and, upon motion by councilman T~mmons, seconded by Councilman Perkins, which carried, the report was accepted. PETITION ~R STREET LIGHT: The clerk read a petition signed by eight{S) property owners near Fifth and McIutosh, requesting a street light at that corner. Upon motion by Councilman Perkins. seconded by Councilman Eidder, which carried, the clerk was authoriaed to order same installed at ne cost to. the city for installation. REQUE$T FOR TREE TRIMMING: The clerk read a letter from R.o.Meldau reques$1ng topping of trees. The matter was t~rned over to Street C~mmtssioner Perkins for action. SAN DIEGO COUNT~ WATER AUTHORITY..:. The Clerk read a letter from W.H.~ennings, attorney for La Mesa, Lemon Grove and Spring Valley Irrigation District, "inviting Chula Vista's participation in the formation of a water autherlty. The letter was tabled for future discussion. HEQtrEST FOR SIGN: The Clerk read a letter from A.A. Kamper, requesting permission ~o erect a directive sign to the U.-~,0. Building on Third Avemue near Center and Parkway Avenue. Upon motion by Councilman Perkins, seconded by Councilman Kidder, which carried, permission was granted. REQUE$T FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Robert Tucheck wrote requesting leave of ab'sense from ~he Fire Department, having been called to the. armed forces. Opon motion by Councilman Perkins, seconded by 0ouncmlman Kidder, which carried, same was granted. ACCEPTANCE OF SEWEH LINES: City Engineer ~ager advised the City COuncil to accept the mower lines installed by Company for the Government, to serTM projects Cal - 42~9 and Cal 4099. The Council expressed its willingness to do so, but instructed the clerk to confine the acceptance to those sewers installed in streets belonging to the $ity ef Chula Vista only, certain portions of the sewer line being installed on Government property. The council felt it beyond their authority to accept these portions. RESOLUTION N0.~64: AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL LAND FOR SEIA~ 1~ ~r~AN$IO~ OH OTHER ~A1]NIC~p~AL PURPOSE3: The Resolution was read in full and was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Perkins, Burnside, Eidder, Hews, Timmons. Noes: None. Absent: None. ORDINANCE N0~SES: REPEALING ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING C~ FOR NINER~ IN ~ CITY OF CHULA VISTA. Upon motion by Councilman Howe, seconded by Counc~_l~n Kidder, which carried. Ordinance No.3~.5 was read in full, and, being a~ emergency Ordinance, was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Howe, T~mmons, Perkins, Burnside and Kidder. Noes: None. Absent: None. EASemENT FOR 0VER-PA~: There was presented to the Council a tentative request for 'easement for an overpass over Walnut Avenue in the City of Chula Vista. Upon motion by Councilman Kidder, seconded by Cou~cilman Tfmmons, which carried, the Council tentatively approved the substance and form of the reque et.
