The motion Ms lost for want of a second. Commissioner Perkt~ ex-pressed himself as being in favor of leaving the machines as they are, stating that if the machines were found to be illegal, then the owners ~ operators should be arrested and ta~ the consequences. Police Chief Dupree made the statement that there are no automatic ps,-off machines in the City of Chula Vista, all of the p~y-off mechanism being locked. It seAm-d to be the consensus of opinion of the council that, as the machimes were licensed as smlase~ent devices only, they should be allowed to remain, ~d, if proven to be gambling dewicee, then the guilty parties should be prosecuted. It was so moved by Oouncilm~n Timmons, seconded by Councilm-n Perkins, and carried. BUS STGP:.
