The Council met in the Council Chambers of the City Hall at ? p.m., ~onday, July 20, 1942, pursuant to adjournment. Present: Councilmen Howe, Dupree, Tlmmaons, Burnside. Absent: Councilm~n P~rkinso RE,QUE~,T ,FOR SIM: Mr.~Gee appes.red ~f~re the Council to request per- mission to erect a sign on Nationml Avenue for the Lion's Club. ~ir. McGee was advised that permission would have to creme from the S~ate Ki~way Commission. ZONE VARIANCE HEARING: ~r. Oord~vey of Chula Vista havi~g made application for a Zone ~aria~ce which w~uld ~llow him to ex~ot a tempor~y Factory B~ilding, end the~e having been published in the Ohula Vista Star, a notice of public hearing to be held on ~nday, ~ 20, 19A~ at ? p.m., Council thereupon called for objections from the audience. The Cl~rk tb~n proceeded to read a written objection signed by numerous property owners in the viciuity. These people objected on the grounds that it was detr!w~ntal to residence prope~y aud they fea~ed might result in unlimited construction of factory buildings, and they were very much opposed to same. Upon motion by Oouneilma~ Dupree, seconded by Councilman Buxmside, which carried, the request for Zone V~riauce was denied. ~I~0LUTI~ N0.840: Councilm~ Dupree offered Resolution No.64§. This is a Resolution authorizix~ the allocation of money to the Recreation Commission. The ResOlution was read in full and was passed, adopted and spproved by the following vote to-wit: Ayes: Councilmen Dupree, B~rnside, Howe, Timons. Noes: None. Abseat: Councilman Perkins. 0RDINA~GE N0.$0?: On motion by Councilm~ B~rnside, sesonded by CouncXlman Timmons, which carried, 0rdinauce No.~0? was placed on ~ts first readi~. The title having been read in full, o~ motion by Councilm~ Timons, seconded by Counci~ Burnside, which carried, the reading of the 0rdinaUCe was waived. 0~I~;~OE N0.J08: O~ motion by Councilman Burnside, seconded by Councilm~n Timmone, vhich carried, Ordinance No,~08 was placed on its first reading. ~ title having been read in full, on motion by Council~ Dupree, seconded by Councilman Howe, which carried, further reading of the Ordinance was waived.
