CITY OF CPIUI~% VISTA, HELD DEC~J]3ER lS, 1941.
The Council met pursuant to adjournment from the Special MeetLug held at
l0 o'clock, December 13, 1941. The meeting was called to order at l:Z0 P. M.
Present: All mmnbers.
0RDII~INCE NO. 504: Upon mo~ion by Cl. Ttw,~ms, seconded by Cl. Buzmside,
which carried, 0rdin--ce No. ~04z~as placed on its first reading. This is an
ordinance creating a Director of 'Defense.
f~D~TOUR~T: Upon motion by Cl. HOwe, seconded by Cl. Dupree, which
ca~'ried, this meeting was adjourned sine die.
MIt~JTES OF ~ SPECIAL ~DING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFOP~L~, P~L~ DECE~ 13, 1941.
The Council met in special session in the Council Ghember of the City W~I et
l0 O'clock A. M., all members being present, held in compliance with a Notice of
Special meeting executed by each emd every member of the City Council ~ud on file
in the office of the City Clerk prior to the meeting.
Cl. Dupree reported that he had made a survey of driveways and no parking
zones in the City of Chula Vista and reco~nded several changes, ~mong them the
following:
1. That the c~.rb by the San Diego and Arizona Railway station be rem~oved
and remade close to the sldew~l~ to remove the haze.rd that exists now due to the
street narrowing at this point;
2. That the cross-w~lk across the Third Avenue side of the new Post-
office be moved northerly to a point directly in front of the P~st-office building;
~. That where existing curbs are cut for driveways which are no longer
used as such they be rebuilt so that these areas might again be used for parking.
~Lfter discussion on the matter of permission granted at the last Council meet-
ing to ~r. Moeser to cut a 18 ft. driveway across the curb on Third Avenue ~. Dupree
moved that that permission be rescinded due to ~he fact that it would reprove approximate-
ly seven p~rking places, which at the present time are badly needed on Third Avenue,
and also thatiit would present a hazard to pedestrians on account of ca~s going in ~nd
out across the sidewalk. Cl. Ti~m~ons expressed his views, Ehich were that meder~x busi-
ness d*m~ded adjacent parking lots end it was his thought that nothing should be done
to curb modern business needs. Cl. Dupree's motion lost for waut of a second. Upon
motion by Cl. Burnside, seconded by Cl. D~pree, which carried, it was moved that Clmen.
Dupree and Perkins be authorized to make au extensive study of this plan of Mr. Moeser's
to establish a purking lo~ and to report their findings at the next Council meeting,
in the meant~m~ the permission granted ~. Moeser to proceed was rescinded.
RESOL~ON NO. 622: Cl. Tlmmons offered Resolu~i,o~ No. 622. This is a resolu-
tion authorizing Street Commissioner Perkins to sign a permit authorizing the Southern
California Telephone Company to install a pole and ~nchor and necessary w~ss to ser-
vice the ~I ~ ~ ~il~ing in the Park. The resolution was read in full aud was passed,
adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Clmen. Timmons, Dupree,
Perkins, Burnside, HOwe; 2~oes: None; Absent: None.
RES0 ,I~TION ,,NO. 623,: Cl. T~m~ons offered Resolution l~q. 6.2_3.. This is a resolution
authorizing Street Oommissioner Perkins to sigma permit authorizing the Sea Diego Gas
and Electric Company to install a pole and anchor together with necessary wires to
service the U S 0 building in the park with electric lighting and power service. The
resolution was read in full and was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote,
to-wit: Ayes: 01men. T~w,.ons, Dupree, Perkins, Burnside, Howe; Noes: None;
Absent: None.
