The Council met pursuant to adjournment in the Council Chmnber of the City Hall on the above shown date with Msyor Done presiding. The meeting was called to order at 7 o'clock P. M. Present: Clmen. Done, Howe, Dupree, Perkins. I~i~BNAYER RE. QUiT: ~. Laubmayer appeared before the Council with a request for permission to place a trailer on his property faci~g K Street and renting it to one of his employees. He also requested permission to convert a double garage into living quarters for auother employee. Upon motion by Cl. Dupree, seconded by Cl. Howe, which carried, the Kmtter was referred to the Council as a whole for investigation, report to be ~ade at the next regular meeting. REPORT OF RECREATI,0,Iq~L C(N~,~I'I~I~.~: ~. Jack ~Ltllan appeared before the Council and reported that a conference had been held ~ith I~. Jas. Galder and ~Lr. F. igc Chase re- garding the establishment of a recreation commission. He said their findings were that school boards could appropriate money for recreationol purposes, providing there existed a reg~.lar recreational commission which had been a?pointed by the Council. Suggestion was m~de that the following be n~umed to that co~ission: J.C. Lauderbach, F. B~. Chase, R. B. Reinbach, D~lfrieda Rook, Rev. Lester Bond and Jack Millan ~s Secretary; Zhe com- mission to be called Board of Recreational Conm~ssioners, to h~ve Jt~isdiction over re- creational activities and to report to the Council from time to time. Upon motion by C1. Dupree, seconded by Cl. Howe, which carried, the above mentioned were appointed as a comrzittee to outline plans and report to the Council at the next regular meeting. Cl. Paxton appeared at this time. ~E~V STREET LIGht: Upon motion by Cl. Paxton, seconded by Cl. Dupree, which carried, the clerk vms instructed to contact the San Diego Gas and Electric Company and have an extra street light installed at the Southeast corner of Third Avenue and E Street. C~J~SS OF VOTES: The Council proceeded to canvas the votes cast at the eleven pre- cincts of the Special election held November 5, 1940 and to count the absentee ballots. After the count and canvass were made Cl. Howe offered Resolution No,. 582.~ This is a reso- lution stating the result of a canvass of election returns of the Special Bond Election held November 5, 1940. The resolution was read in full and was passed, adopted and approved by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Clmen. Howe, Dupree, Pa~ton, Perkins, Done. Noes: Noneo Absent: None. Bryant, Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, California, DO HEREBy CESTIFY YdqD DECLARE that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, at its regular adjourned meeting duly held on November 12, 1940, has duly and regularly canvassed the returns of the special bond election held in the City of Chula Vista on November 5, 1940, and has declared the result of said election. That the proposition voted upon at said election is aS follows: Shall the City of Chula Vista incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $15,000 for the acquisition by said city of a certain m~uicipal improvement, to wit, an airport site, including the acquisition of aL1 lands and property necessary or convenient therefor? The canvass being seven days after said election, all absent voter ballots have been duly canvassed and counted as required by law and the result of such count is hereinafter stated. I certify that the foregoing statement of remult is a full, true, aud correct statement of the ~acts of said canvass and of the results of said election, and that as soon as the result was declared, the aforesaid statement was duly entered by me, the Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, on the records of said City Council. RE~EST FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE: City Attorney DeWitt P!iggs asked for a leave of absence from November 14th to December let, 1940 and on motion by Cl. Howe, seconded by Cl.
