The Council met in regular session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above
shown date with Mayor Done presiding. The meeting was called to order at 7 o'clock P. M~
Present: ~ayor Done, Clm~n. Howe, Tiw~ons and Browll. Absent: Cl. Bryant.
MINUTES, OF PRE'~iOUS ~ETING~: The Minutes of the Regular DIeeting of June 5th,
the Adjourned Regular Meeting of. June 12th and the Special ~eetin~ of June 21st and 27th,
having been prepared ~ud mailed to each member of this Council by the City Clerk were
approved as prepared and mailed.
,LIQUOR LICENSE RENEWAL: Notices from the State Board of Equalization of the renewal
for liquor licenses of the Ohula Vista Fsmtly Liquor Store ~ the Dutch Lunch Liquor
Store were presented to the Council and there having been no protest entered, said notices
were filed.
~ P~2~0V~L RE~D-EST: Upon motion by Mayor Done, seconded by Cl. Brown, which carried,
the request of Captain E. S. Root, who is building a residence at 44§-6th Avenue, for the
removal of three Eucalyptus trees which prohibit the planting of lawn and shrubbery at said
address was referred to Cl. Howe with power to act.
LE~ OF APPREC. IATION: The Chula Vista Woman's Club by letter expressed their appre-
ciation to the Council for their cooperation and financial assistance in making the recent
Flower Show a success.
PI~d~NING COE~SSION,,APPOIPi~2~I~: Upon motion by Cl. BrOwn, seconded by Cl. Howe,
which carried, the nominations by MAyor Done of C. F. Walker and R. H. Taber as members
of the Planning Com~xission were confirmed.
Cl. Howe suggested that the Plaguing Com~fssion be
asked to reconsider their previous reco~mnendation of tree planting on 2md Avenue adjacent to
the New Park. He stated that inasmuch as the park is being planted with Cocos Plumosas
and other palm~ that it might be well to have the £nd Avenue side planted with Cocos Plu-
mosas also rather than pepper trees.
COVER PROPERTY: The City Attorney informed the Council that the tax deed to the County
of the Cover lots in Country Club Villas becomes conclusive in December of this year. He
advised the Council to hold up any action regarding them until that time.
He also informed the Council that ~. ~rray Loop 'of the District
Attorney's office has been assigned to investigate the status of the Faust and Cerdinole
prOperty on the Bay Front and that upon receipt of notification from I~r. Loop he would ad-
vise them further in the matter.
S. R. A. CONTP~CT: The City Attorney informed the Council that the contract signed
by the Ci't'y 'Wit'h the S. R. A. for the current fiscs~ year had been approved and he pre-
sented the City's copy to the Clerk.
C, HASE PROPERTY: Upon motion by Cl. Brovm, seconded by Cl. Howe, which carried, the
plat as submitted by 0. ~. Cotton to sell off the Chase property divided into 9 lots
was approved, subject to the approval of the State Real Estate Commissioner, provided
the building restriction on each lot is a minimum of $4,000 and that the County tax
claims be pro-rated to each lot sold and City due and delinquent taxes be paid in full on
said lots as shown on the City Tax Roll. The City Attorney was instructed to inform ~r.
Cotton by letter to this effect. This action was taken as a means of getting this property
back on the active tax roll.
CONVE~_NCE OF TAX I~Ek~nED PROI~ERTY: Cl. Howe offered Resolution No. 54?,~Which is a
resolution authorizing Mayor Done to execute quit clai~a deeds to record property ov~ners
of those parcels of property for which the City has a County tax deed upon payment of
accumulated County and City delinquent and current taxes. The resolution was read
and was passed and adopted as read by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Cl. Brown,
Done, Howe and Timmons. Noes: None. Absent: Cl. Bryant.
PACKING SHED: ~. Swithenb~nk who has recently completed a new home at ?4J Fifth Ave.
protested to the Council the proPOsed placing of a packing shed on 5th Avenue across the
street from his home. After considerable discussion over the site for the packing shed
the Building Inspector was instructed to have the tomato grower place the packing shed
~on Kearney St. midway between 5th Avenue and Alpine Avenue.
BILLS PAID: Upon motion by Clo Brown, seconded by Cl. Howe, which carried, the
following bills after examination by the Finance Committee were ordered paid:
