Avenue, requested the Oo~cil to have a fire ~d~t installed in ~e ne~ vic~lty of his
home as the hearst ~dr~t is too f~ from his h~e to in~re h~ fire protection. Fire

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of City Council, held June 5, 1939.
RICH TAX REFUND REQUEST: Upon motion by Cl. Howe, sedonded by Cl. Brown, which
carried, the request of ~/~,~/~$ C. Rich for refund of $13.40, the amount of taxes which
he would be entitled to as a veteran if he were qualified for said exemption, was de-
nied. This action was taken after it was determined that Mr. Rich resided in Orange
County and owned personal property in said County in an amount large enough to have taken
care of such exemption and due to the fact that he did not furnish the City Assessor
necessary information and receipts before the expiration date last year.
S. D. COUIVI'X LEAGUE OF MD~NICIPALIT~: Cl. T4w.~ons offered Resolution No. 542,~which
is a resolution authorizing the members of the City Council, the City Clerk, the City
Attorney and such department heads or their authorized deputy as the Mayor might from
time to time direct, to attend all meetings of the Sun Diego COunty League of Mmtuicipal-
lties at the expense of the City of Ohula Vista. The Resolution was read and was passed
and adopted as read by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Gl. Tirm.ons, Brown, Done and
Howe. Noes: None. Absent: Cl. Bryant. This action was taken after Mayor Done had
informed the Council that four other 6th class cities had adopted similar resolutions
and would insure better attendance at ~A~urm~~ meetings.
PERIODICAL REPORTS: The monthly reports of the City Judge, Police Department and
Fire Department for May and the monthly report of the City Treasurer for March were ex-~.tued
and ordered filed.
ACCOUNT TRAi~$1~/: Upon motion by Cl. Howe, seconded by Cl. Brown, which carried,
the $600.00 set up in the Street ~,,lvert Account of the Street Improvement l~m~ was trans-
ferred to the New Park Account of the Street Improvement Fund. This action was taken in-
asmuch as the culvert on 4th Ave. for which this account was set up, had been taken care
of by the Street Department and the new park account having been practically used up.
TRAFFIC LII~ PAINTIR~G: It was decided by the Council that the Street Department
with the assistance of the S. R. A. would paint necessary traffic lines.
It was decided to retain the one inch rock specification
for side-walks and curbs rather than change it to i 1/2 inch mix.
S. R. A. COMPENSATION INSURANCE: The question aS to whether or not the City was
protaeb~d in case of inJur~o S R A employees working ~or the City was brought up and
the City Attorney and the C~ty Clerk were instructed to investigate and take out insurance
if found necessary and reasonable.
BIT~.~ PAID: Upon motion by 01. Howe, seconded by Cl. Timmons, which carried, the
