The Council met in special session in the usual place of holding meetings, in
the City Hall, on the above shown date with Mayor Done presiding. Meeting called
to order at 9 o'clock A. M~ Present: All members. This meeting was held in
coml~liance with a call f~r a special meetings issued by the Mayor, which is as
follows~

You and each of you are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the City 0ouncil
of the City of Chula Vista, California, is called to meet in the usual place of
meeting in the City Mall in the City of Chula Vista, California, at 9 o'clock
A. M. Thursday, August 25th., 19~8.
~RP0SE OF ~.~TIN*:
To consider and act upon a resolution en~loying the law firm of 0'Melveny,
Tuller & M~ers of Los Angeles, California, to act as special counsel for the
City of Chula Vista in all matters pertaining to a special election proposing
the issuance of bonds for the construction of a city hall, combination fire
and police station, s~mmtnE pool and bath-house, recreational and ball park
and other recreational facilities (tennis courts, toque court and horse-shoe
court ).

"I, M. E. Kelly, Chief of Police of the City of Chula Vista, California, do hereby
certify that I have personally delivered one copy of the foregoing call for a
Special Meeting to each member of the City 0ouncil whose name appears above.

OFFER OF O'MELV~2~Y~ T~W.~,w,R & MYERS: The clerk read a letter from 0'Melveny,
Tuller & N~ers addressed to Ms, or DOne which stipulated the fee for which they
would prepare the proceedings relative to the coming bond election. If the bonds
are defeated at the election the fee will be $225.00 and if the bonds carry the
fee will be $450.00 or an adjustment will be made if several propositions were on
the b~]ot and one or several are carried, plus any disbursements for char~e~ such
as telegr~, telephone calls, etc. Cl. Brown offered Resolution No. $28,~which
is a resolution ~mploying the law firm of 0'Melveny, Tuller & ~yers to act as attor-
neys for the City of Chula Vista respecting the said election proposing bond issue.
The resolution was read and was passed and adopted as read by the following vote, to-wit:
Ayes: Olmen. Bryant, Done, Ttmmons and ~m. Noes: Cl. Howe. Absent: None.
Cl. Howe stated that he felt the firm of 0'Melveny, Tuller & Ms, ers was the proper
firm to contact regarding the handling of said proceedings; however, inasmuch as
he did not feel that this proposition should be presented to the people he voted as
he did.
AD~: Upon motion by C~. Brown, seconded by C1. Howe. which carried, this
Council adjourned sine die.
