The Council met pursuant to adjournment ia the Council Chamber of the City HaL1 on
the above shown date with Mayor Done presiding. The meeting was called to order at
11 o'clock A.M. Present: Ail members.
BRIGHTWOOD .~?.v~y: The City Engineer recOn~ended that two pepper trees which
are in the alley in Block 2 of Brightwood be removed and the alley graded from E St.
to Flower St. and that the alley not be abandoned at the present time. He suggested
that in case a sewer district should go in the alley could be used for sewer laterals.
Upon motion by Clo Brown, seconded by Cl. Howe, which carried, the suggestion was
approved.
CITY E~JIPMENT: Upon motion by Cl. Howe, seconded by Cl. Ttww. ons, which carried,
it was resolved that no city equipment be loaned to private individuals regardless.
This action was taken after Cl. Howe had reported that ~y people had abused the priv-
ileges of using city equipment and the _line had to be drawn some place and at some time.
SIXTH AVENUE CURB ,0I, ,LI~,G: Cl. Brown reported that the property owner~ on
Sixth Avenue from F St. to G St. had decided to furnish the necessary oil te l~avm
Sixth Avenue oiled from curb to curb and that the County authorities had promised to
lay same.
TE~T. ,ATIVE PLANS OF PROPO ,S~D, I~JN, IC,I~, ,AL BUILDINGS: Mr. Bo~rm~r presented tenta-
tive plen~ for the proposed ~.micipal buildings which were included in the "Letter
of Retainer" given him at a prior meeting and which did not include the improvements
in the ball park. He explained the floor plan of each of the buildings and they were
so drawn as to allow for extensions on each to prepare for necessary expansion. The
total cost, however, was estimated to be considerably higher than at first anticipated
and not including the grand stand and improvements in the ball park it came to
$154,666.00. The Council felt that the building plan should not be lessened and after
considerable discussion over the feasibility of keeping the mwizamlng pool and large
culvert on this particular program they decided to leave them off and to include the
grasd stand, wall and necessary toilet facilities for the ball park. This then left
an estimated total of Si11,000.00. l~r. Bodmer advised that inaSmUch as the bond issue
would in all probability be for a 50 year period that the playground property, which
is leased for only 30 years, be re-leased so that it would cover a period of 50 years.
The City Attorney informed the City Council that he believed this could be obtained
without too much difficulty. M~. Bodmer requested that a supplemental Letter of Re-
tainer be given him stipulating that the swimuing pool and buildings thereto be omitted
and that the grand stand, wall and toilet facilities for same be included. Upon
motion by Cl. Ttmmons, seconded by Cl. Brown, which carried, the Clerk was instructed
to give Mr. Bodmer a supplemental Letter of Retainer as above shown.
~. Bodmer stated that he would have a perspective of the buildings that could
be put on display to show the electors Just what they could expect to get for the money
voted.
The City Attorney reported that Mayor Done and he aaticipat®~ being in San
Francisco week after next and if the necessary specifications could be f~rnished at
that time they would atte~pt to contact the proper ~ officials regarding s-~.~.
M~. Bodmer stated that he would either have the plans and specifications ready for
them Thursday evening or have them available in San Francisco tl~ early part of the
week following.
BI?-~ PA~): Upon motion by Cl. Brown, seconded by Cl. Ttwrmons, which carried,
the following bills, after examination by the Finance Cer~mtttee, were ordered paid:
