Meeting held in the Couneil Chamber of the City Ball, and walled to c~der at ?~0 p. m. Presents Ma~or Done, 0ouncllman Howe, Lyons, Brown, Oonyers. ~ OF PREVIOUS ~TI~z The minutes of the last regular meeting of ~anuary 2, and of adjourned regular meetings of ~anua~y 10, 16 and 19, 1934, having been mailed to each member of this Oouneil, were approved as followe~ Gl. Howe proposed that the minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of ~anuery 19, 1934, be eor~eeted to read that during the dissuasion on the eity's present finanelal oondition, he had offered to recluse the expenses of his (Street) department $200.00 per month~ this offer was made prior to his proposal to reduee expenses, as shown in the meeting in question. This eorrection was approved by thio eouneil. O. W, A. ~ Gl. Brown offered Resolution No. 352, whish is a resolution direeting the eity engineer to present an applination to the O. W. A. of Oalifc~nia for funds to finance a eewe~ system for ~mailee Park Subdivision, and surrounding territo~y. The eity engineer presented a plan for the work, and explained portions of the applieation, after whieh the resolution was read, and was passed and adopted, as read, by the following vote to-wit: AI~ Glo I~owe, Lyons, Brown, Oonyers, Done. NOES~ None. ABSENT~ None. i~IODIO~ REPORTS: The m~nthly reports of the poliee and fire departments, and of the city ~ourt, for the month of January, 1934, and after examination, were c~dered filed. ~T~.E~T LIGHT: A petition, signed by 17 residents in the vicinity of H Street and National Avenue, was presented, in whieh a street light was requested for that interseetion. Upon motion by 01o Lyons, seconded by Cl. Brown, whieh carried, the matter was referred to the Street Department for investigation, and power to act, provided there is no cost to the city for the installation of the light. I1ELI~QUEh'T TAXES: The clerk =~-ouneed shat the first installment of the 1933 eity taxes~ on ~anuary ~§, 19S4, was 18-1/~%~elinquent. STREET DEPARTMENT FUNDSz The olerk reported that the street department for the month of Yanuary, 1934, had expended ~12~8o85, whieh is $~8.85 over the amount authorize~ fce~ exl~nditure by this Oouncil in its meeting of ianuary 19, 19~4. ~Y FOR S~EET DEPA~.NT: The street superintendent asked for authority to purchase a searifier for use of the street department, at a cost of ~0.00. Authorized, upon motion by Gl. 0onyers, seconded by Gl. Brown, which serried. FRANCHISE HEA~ING~ The city attorney as2ed f~r permission to expend not to exeeed $10.00 in obtaining eertifind sepias of certain papers to be used in the hearing on the franchise of the San Diego ~es ~nd Electric 0~m~any.
