Present: Ail members, except Council.m.', Bolts, who was absent. ~1~ OF PR~vr0US ~em~TING$: The minutes of the last regular meeting of September ~rd, and of au adjourned regular m~eting of September 10, 19~§, having been prepared amd mailed by the clerk to each member of this Council, were approved aa prepared and mailed. SEWER ~¥~'FEM: It developed that six residences, formerly owned by the 0tabard Op- erating 0cerpany, on the East side of ~nd Avenue~ at X Street, are all connected to the sewer line on 2nd Avenue, with one somuection. Sene of the present owners of these rea- ldencee were present aud objected to putting in a separate connection to each building. Afte~ dieoussion~ upon motion by 01o Brown, seconded by 01~ Lyons, which eax~ied, the city attorney was instructed to get in touch with the owners above mentioned, and inform them that they will each have to have a separate sonneo%tion to the sewer line, as required by law. Barrows, of Nm-th 4th Avenue, addressed the 0ounoil and asked that if there is any surplus dirt ~ m~e in ~he preaen~ pavi~ work, that s~e of it be placed in 4th Av~, ~een Sea Va~ S~eet ~d ~e north city l~it. ~ .tared that the a~eet there La too 1~, and aho~d be raiee~. ~e ~or stated that he ,~,, BlW-v-~: The clerk asked for permission to remov~ a charge of $19.~0 fram the 1935 Tax Roi1, aa charged to the Security Trust and Savings Beak for weed sloshing. It appears that the fire deparl~aent in sending out bills for weed cleaning, had erron- eously turned in a bill against the above mentioned bank, as not paid, to be charged on the Tax Roi1, when as a matter of faot the bill had been paid. Request granted upon motion by Ol. Brown, seconded by ~1. Howe, which ~arried. S~ItEET ~w~: Mrs. Z. L. Lyonss which earriedo Ih'lm~LgST ON ~ uEFOSITED: The ~ayor brought up the matter of the city not oeiving interest on funds deposited with the B~nk of America, fram September 15, which is the date ~he new law became effective, instead of a later date. No action taken. GASOLIEE TAX: The clerk reqd a letter from the State Highway 0c~nmiseion, giving instructions for the expenditure of funds received fram the ~ gasoline tax to be ex- pended on city streets. Referred to city engineer to comply. W. P. A. PROZECT$: A letter was reads which enclosed a form to be filled in, cov- ering a project for inventorying the city library. The Mayor signed the form as filled in. B~GRCH AVENUE SOLFi~ OF G S~EET: A letter signed by several residents living on this street, was read, in which the signers asked that the sign be erected at the inter- section of 0huroh and ~, informing the public that it ia not a through street. The signers stated that the turning of oars at the end of the street is ~nnoying. 0hief of Police instructed to get price of such a sign for Auto 01ub of Oelifornia. PAVING: A letter Was read, signed by David H. Yudson and Victor Day, which o~ plained about the crown of the street paving on ~ Street, between Third Avenue and Del gar~ is too high. Referred to city ateorney and city engineer. SEWER SYSTEMs EXTENSION OF: An expression of opinion, signed by property owners in Smal~ss Park, B~ightwood, Malta Squ~s and Shenandoah Tract, was read, in which 8~ owners favored a ~ewer system in in their localities, and 9 owners were not in favor of it. ~1~e city engineer stated that he is working on an application for this work to be done under a Government Loan and Grant, and upon motion by Glo Brown, seconded by 01. Lyons, the Mayor ia authorized to sign any papers necessary in the application. Meeting of 0etcher ?, 1935, Oontinusd. PUROBASE 0F ~C~[: The clerk read letters from 0hula Vista ~otor Sales, Ltd., and Sack Oalvers, offering the sell the city a ~ruok. 0. Y. Helm, of Helm Bros., verbally stated his prices for a truck. After discussion, the matter held over to another meeting. PERIODICAL REPC~TS: The Quarterly report of the 0ity Treasurer, for Quarter ending September 30, 1935, and the monthly reports of the city Judge, chief of police, and fire chief, for the month of September, 1935, were presented and ordered filed. CULVerT 0NF0~T~tAV~NUE, S01Y2HOF K S~EET~ The city engineer reported on the cost of materials necessary to build a new bridge at the point mentioned above, as approxi- mately ~973.00. Authorized upon motion by 01. Brown, seconded by 01. Lyons, which oar- tied. W~ ~ArNS I~ O0NNEOTION WITH PA¥I~G: The city engineer and street superintendent reported that the Sweetwater Water 0orporation is not properly refilling the trenches it is digging for new water mains, being laid ahead of the paving. They stated that the refill is not properly tam, ed, and there is already one sase on K Street, where the paving, Just laid, has s,mk Quite notioably, over a refilled trenoh of the water company. Olerk instructed to write the water e~pany, calling their attention to this matter, and to say that the city will expect the company to replace the defective paving on K Street above mentioned.
