this 0ouneil that on aeeount of only & partial payaent having been ~ade by the eity
for its work ~m November, owing to leek of funk, the U. S. Grant not yet resolved, the
eceapany would cease work on December 17, 1935~ and hold the eity responsible for a~
lose or damage eu~taine~ by the sc~any. This, in aeoordanee with paragraph 12, of the
eontrant under whieh the work ia bein~ proeeanted.
Copy of a letter fx-~a the eity attorney to the Low Angeles office of PWA., a tel-
egram f~c~ t~at allies, and the engineer's letter to the same offiee givin~ date for an
in~rease in the grant, together with a letter fr-w the city attorney to the San Fran-
wises offiae of PWA., were all approved upon motion by Cl. Brown, seaonded by Cl. Bolts,
which eax~ied.

pany steres that the pavement at Second Avenue and Roosevelt Street, was laid in accord-
anne with gra~ee eatebliehed by the engineers, and the oampany ia not responsible in
auy way. Referred to engineers, with power to set, upon ~otion by 01. Brown, seaonded
by Cl. Lyons, which worried, 01. Ho~e voting No.
PAVING ~ ~PA.; The city attorney reported the result of a conference he had
with the offialals of ~PA., in San Diego, wherein it ia thought that the shoulders of
all e~n-ip pave~--.nt could be oiled, aa well aa oiling unpaved et~eete~ with ~PA funds.
